stolen rear parcel shelf
My F was opened last night and the parcel shelf removed. Nothing else was taken.
Has any one else had this happen to them ?
This is the second time this has occurred. Firstly with a V6 model about 3 years ago and secondly with my current V8.
And , no, its not on E-bay .....yet

How did they get into the car?
Did you leave it unlocked?
AFAIK the rear hatch can only be released/opened electronically (so key/fob needed) or via the emergency release handle which can juuust be accessed from the front seat with a hook on the end of a long stick/handle, so again how did they get into the car????
Anyway no matter how they got in the hatch cover is pretty much the only highish value item in the car that can be removed quickly and easily with no tools, and it's also easy to sell, so no wonder they took only that.

It seems that its not so weird after all. My Jaguar parts supplier keeps them in stock and Ive now discovered that high end vehicles i e Mercedes and BMW are all being targeted.
Steal it today and put it on E-Bay tomorrow and you could be buying your own parcel shelf.
I live in North West London where electronic cloning of remote keys is unfortunately common place.
There have been many items stolen by organised gangs over the years using these clones i e catalytic converters, spare wheels , sports items.etc
And yes I did lock the car.

Thank you for posting this, as it reminds all of us of the dangers of Fob-cloning. I was just thinking I was getting a bit OCD when I rapidly stuff my fob in its faraday blocking pouch when using the car for any reason. After reading this, I will continue that. At home I also put the Fob in its blocking pouch. Here in the US, I have read that specialized fob readers can be used outside your house to get at the fob. I know my pouch works, if I forget to take the fob out when I get in the car, I get a message to that effect. So what do you do? You probably have to leave the car parked outside, so take the parcel shelf inside with you? Jeez. The other thing to look for is a lock for the catalytic converters... big theft ring here recently broken up. Guy in California who stole and then sold like 2 .5M USD worth of stolen stuff.
