Hi guys,

I had a scraping noise on full lock which turned out to be the Torx bolts holding the front brake disk shield in place had started to unscrew themselves and were contacting the disk rotor. The noise was clearly identifiable as coming from that front wheel area though.
I went to my trusted mechanic and we inspected the front of the car. All silent blocks are fine and there are no strange games. Turning the steering shaft by hand instead (circled in red) it seems that the noise I hear is heard very slightly. Has anyone had any similar problems? Do you know of any steering box recalls?

I'm experiencing the same sound. Been happening for a while now (2016 w/11k miles). The mechanic shop noticed it on their own while doing an inspection. They are investigating the noise today.
I also get a clunk noise in the back of my car (suspension?) on my first declined right-turn and first speed bump every day... Probably not related however.

What year is your car? MY14 had an issue with bushings that could cause a rear clunk at low speeds.
I haven't solved my problem yet. The dealer wants me to give him the car because he thinks it's the steering gear box. It seems very strange to me...the car has 30,000 km.
I've been on the track and made some videos where you can hear the "tack" I hear when I turn the steering wheel. I have the problem when I turn the steering wheel about 90 degrees, both at low and high speed. When I'm stationary, if I turn the steering wheel I don't hear the noise.
although the noise seems to come from inside the car, I believe it comes from outside. Lately I've heard the noise even when hitting a bump with the steering straight.
Hi, i have latest updates following some tests with my friend: I know that the noise comes from the front left part of the car and in particular from the top part. When hear the noise, if I put it in reverse and I go a few meters back and hear the noise again, if I put it in first gear and go forward I hear the noise again and so on. If I put my hand near the shock absorber, on the top where there is the cross symbol on the chassi, when I hear the noise I feel a vibration under my hand. believing it was a problem with the left shock absorber, I swapped the shock absorbers but the noise always comes from the left. Before I realized that the noise was coming from the top, I thought it was to the stabilizer bar and I changed the left stabilizer bar link but no is this the problem. If anyone can help me and knows a TSB for this defect it would be very helpful
What year cars are we talking about here? Neither of your profiles say what you have, nor have you mentioned it.
Manuninja, geez, been on a long while for you with this problem. A bit frustrating no doubt, and a bit concerning in your case given that you apparently track your car etc…
I don’t have any advice to offer, but I’m definitely curious and will keep an eye out for this problem on mine.
Yes, I asked the 2 dealers and they both told me they had no idea what the problem was and that it had never happened to them.
Therefore, I should have left the car to them, authorizing them to work on it for 3 hours to find the problem. If they hadn't found the problem in those three hours, they would have called me to be authorized to work on it for another 2 hours and so on until they found it.
On principle, since I would have left the car at an official Jaguar dealer, I didn't like this answer and never left it to them. Up until now, I've lived with the problem. But if we can do some more tests together, we can discuss it.
I've done a lot of tests, but I haven't been able to figure out the cause. However, at this point, I think it could be one of the arms, or the wheel hub (the one with the bearing that is fixed to the spindle). But I don’t think it's the steering box.

Do you have exactly the same problem as me? A single "tack" when you go forward or backward at low speeds? And if you release the steering wheel at the same angle and reverse, do you feel it again?
