Sunroof blind broken
Brand new member to this forum and I want to say hello and thank you ahead of time to the people who respond to threads like this and share their knowledge and experience. That said, I just bought a 2016 F-Type R coupe. I love it, it's probably the fastest most precise car I've ever owned. Anyway, I took it to my local Jaguar dealer for a PPI and a few things needing attention were repaired under warranty however two things are being disputed, the sunroof blind and the cupholder latch. I can live with the cupholder latch not working properly and by that I mean it doesn't stay closed or it's difficult to close. No big deal, but the shade is broken, off the track and tattered which is a pain in the ... My question to the forum is this, has anyone else had this problem or know about this problem and it was (or wasn't) fixed under warranty? It is under dispute and Jaguar is claiming that the sunroof blind is a "wear" item and probably not covered. This is bewildering to me because I can't fathom how that can possibly be considered a wear item. Brakes, tires, windshield wipers and probably spark plugs are wear items but not the blind.
off track and tattered means who ever owned it before kept forcing the blind open when it got sticky
the whole blind needs replacement and that means dropping the roof lining to access the assembly.
i have done this for one of my previous cars but not the jag and that was because i used to have the sunroof open and the sunblind closed causing buffeting and stretching. Obviously no risk in the coupe so really hard to damage in the jag. Prior owner must have been an idiot .
It really is just a normal roller blind that is sewn to harder metal or plastic edge runner on both sides which then runs in a custom channel.
My other car DIY was $100 for parts vs $1500 repair form the dealer so i decided to do it myself.
It the jag I would probably use the dealer and be done with it.

Mine is sticky at the right front sometimes. I didn't try to get it fixed under warranty because it was my understanding that "fit and finish" issues are only warrantied for the first year or two. It seems that someone forced yours and broke it, so that's not something I think would be covered in any case.
I've heard that it is indeed necessary to drop the headliner to access the mechanism but haven't attempted that myself, at least not yet.

This owner had his warrantied but it was because of previous work which caused his issue:

It's threads like this that remind me that I never close my blind, either. Between threads I forget the blind is there.
