Aluminum for sure. Not worth doing it if it wasn't made from aluminum.

Right now 3D printing in aluminum costs about $400 for the set, so while the first copy will be 3D printed, that's not really realistic for mass production. I am going to start looking into having a mold made and getting the final parts anodized in various colors, but I'm only going to sell these if I can get the cost down to the $200-300 range.

Default Paddles

I started out with a couple of adapters off of eBay for $60 then went to some custom shifters in Carbon Fiber (these weren't a cheap date and took over a year, so I bought them first but installed them second). Pictures below.

I just put them on today but they feel better than the eBay units so expect they'll be fine. But for $60 the eBay units (you can pick the color) worked surprisingly well. I really didn't like the orange shifters though and if I were going to keep them I'd have either plasti-dipped them or wrapped them so the entire assembly was black.

Rob, if you want black shifters, try the ones on the Base model.

The orange ones look terrible.

Other colours are available from JLR though.

I hated the orange, now have those carbon fiber paddles in and I like that look. I even took out the orange starter button, its black now. I could have lived with red but the Orange never worked for me.

Quick update on my progress. The final designs/plastic 3D Printed prototypes have been made and everything fits nicely. Next step is to have a set 3D printed in aluminum for testing and final fitment checks. If everything works out I'll then start investigating mass production for you all. I'll create my own thread at that time.

Very Nice.. Excited and can't wait to see the finished product and what colors you will be making them in. Keep us informed.

Finally got my second batch of real carbon fiber paddles made. They cost a small fortune to made but are awesome and functional. Anyone interested, let me know.

I had huge silver ones before it looked horrible and relied on the grub Screws, they were too big and looked very out of place, took them off and found a nice set of black paddles that fit using 3m tape, they look and feel much better. here is the amazon link.

Old thread, but still quite interesting! I'd like bigger paddles and a bit farther away for my fat XL hands.
