Test driving a 2018 F type p300 tomorrow, what's your ownership experience?

I have a 2014 convertible S type for about 3 years. Currently has 42k miles, purchased with 38k. Had to replace 1 battery 2 yrs ago and last year replaced all 6 oxygen sensors. I only drive it about a 1k+ miles per year but so far no major issue. Just had the plugs, air filters and oil changed 2 months ago, the 2 air filters are tough to access so had garage change. Cost was $1100.

Wow. Seems kinda crazy how involved the insurance companies are over there but nothing surprises me when it all comes down to money. Originally Posted by scm

I've only driven the V6 and V8 but where you live, the countryside is crisscrossed with delightful country roads that I think would allow a P300 to shine. Originally Posted by Matt McFarland

Part of the insurance cost is just the cost of repair, which would be the same for any of the F-Type variants, but I think it'd depend on your carrier. I need to look at the extra equipment I have on mine, e.g. wheels, optional trim pieces, but I think that's the only reason my carrier would care about modifications. There is a place for listing "extra equipment" for coverage.
Places that have regular, mandatory roadworthiness inspections likely car because some modifications may affect that. If you modify your car so that it's no longer road-legal, you could see your coverage denied in an accident.
Optional equipment for your insurance is you requesting extra coverage that you pay more for. So if you added a $5k stereo and wanted to get that money back in the event of a total loss, you add it, but they increase your premiums by an amount relative to the added values.
To the OP, are you still mostly seeking a 4 cylinder P300 or are you now more open to the V6? As we've gotten on to the insurance cost aspect of the choice, I'm thinking that for similar mpney, a V6 would be older and have higher miles than a 4 cylinder; and that generally speaking, older vehicles cost less to insure than newer ones.

Interesting point. My initial thought is the 4-cylinder will have less headaches pop up than a V-6. You bring up a good point regarding insurance on an older V-6 being cheaper. If it's a $1k cheaper for insurance that would offset the difference in maintenance costs. I am definitely going to get a quote on an older v-6 to check the difference. Thank you. Great idea!! Definitely looking into it. Originally Posted by gnlchang1717
