Default For those who like a clean car, possible Pro Tip (AVOID THIS?)

So, a while back I had come across a video where a guy swore up and down that Car Pro Hydro2 Lite was actually collecting dirt on his wheels and making them harder to clean. I remember thinking he was crazy, as I have been using that stuff on my car paint for years with great success.

I recently used a competing similar product called Gyeon Wetcoat. They are these Si02 products where you spray them on and then quickly pressure wash them off immediately to leave a ceramic coat like beading (for anyone not familiar)...A lot of folks recommend using these products to top up actual ceramic coatings you might have installed on your wheels.

Well, I have the distinct impression that there is something to what buddy in the video was saying. I think it was a bad idea to use this stuff on the wheels. I only recently put some on top of my ceramic coated wheels and I think it has caused the wheel to collect dirt and be harder to clean than before. Not scientific, but that is my impression. I think moving forward I will not use this stuff on the wheels any longer and just redo the ceramic every couple years.

For anyone familiar with these si02 sprays, and who use them on their wheels, I would be curious to hear your experiences. This kind of surprised me. I will definitely continue to use these si02 spray on the car body though. Awesome stuff for that.

I tired Turtle Wax's version on my black R including wheels 2 months back, and the wheels are less filthy than without it - and I have PF R4 race pads on. What really shocked me is a $15 spray-and-wipe product is repelling water and dust 2 months in like the day it was applied - the paint is actually shiny after rain storms! Better than more durable than the time-consuming paint sealants like from Wolfgang and CG I used to apply by machine.

If you're referring to Hybrid Solutions, I totally agree. However, I did not like the way it affected the glass, and it was nearly impossible to remove. I studiously avoid applying it to the glass, but find that on my garaged vehicle it lasts so well that the paint doesn't need a reapplication after six months.

Yes, TW’s hybrid solutions. Definitely an inconvenience to remove from glass and lens if not promptly wiped off. For that matter, if left on the paint until a haze develops per its instructions, the faint streaks that form after buffing require a second buffing to remove. I’ve opted to buffing immediately after application.

Definitely do the one panel at a time procedure as per instructions, always using a clean cloth for removal (I use cotton baby diapers instead of microfiber).
