Fabulous. There is, however a problem. Two actually.

I'm all in favor of a station wagon and, indeed, my wife and I even discussed this morning that when her marvelous 2006 (still looks and runs beautifully) BMW 325xi wagon with sports suspension and 6-speed transmission, with 193,000 and running miles, needs to be replaced, what to get. The first problem is that many horses will cause my wife - who loves to drive - more pain, figuratively speaking, than pleasure. There's performance, and then there's 500 hp. (or even 400). The second problem, at least when it comes to puchasing an Audi from the local Audi dealer here in Maine. I wouldn't buy a new car, or used, from them even if they called me up and said, "Mr. Levine, please come and pick up your brand new, free, car". Let's just leave it at that. My guess is there will be another station wagon in our future, just not this lovely beast. Thanks for the link.

 

I'm surprised more cars don't offer the black key/red key like the hellcat...the black key limits power significantly. would be a nice option for high HP cars

 

I heard the black key is still 500 horses (yes, a bit shy of the 700 hp)

Surely, crossovers/softroaders are the new station wagons?

The handing is on a par with my parents, '67 Falcon 'wagon (but with much, much better brakes...), but with a different image...

 

I always thought the Cadillac CTS-V station wagon was the best looking version of the CTS series. And at 556hp it would give both the Audi and the F-type some very serious competition. Unfortunately, GM pulled the plug and will no longer be producing the wagon. I'd love to pick up a used one to replace our worthless Buick Enclave.

 

For those of you into station wagons, allow me to present the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake.



Has the 550PS 8-speed driveline of the XFR-S / F-Type R, packaged in the XF Sportbrake wagon.

It's only been sold in the UK and continental Europe. Jaguar in their infinite wisdom never offered it in other markets.

 

Yes, that XF model is very attractive.

The U.S. market is so dominated by SUVs and "crossovers," there aren't any desirable, traditional wagons anymore. Both BMW and MB were offering wagon models a few years back, but they didn't sell very well, and they gave up here. In this instance at least, JLR's "infinite wisdom" was on target.

 

If I were in the market for a wagon, I'd surely put Volvo in for consideration. The big Auto Show is going to be in SF starting Thanksgiving, and although I'm not currently in the market, I'll be scoping out option. I miss the versatility of my last (compact) wagon sometimes.

 

I drove this car on a track earlier this year, and it is a true beast of a station wagon. The sound is very different from the F-type R (much deeper and not so much backfireing).

If I could chose between a RS6 and this one, I would definately go for the XFR-S.
