Default Tinting rear lights

Has anyone here done this yet? If so, could you please share some pictures?

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the hassle of it passing technical inspections on it's third birthday when the time comes...

no percentage for taillights which I thought was weird. The car is tinted in 35% so not too dark, but not too light and the tail lights are tinted in a color that is called charcoal. I just found a picture online and showed to them and they matched it. I'm happy with the outcome and the little time I've driven it I haven't been pulled over. You can still see the LED's when pressing the brake in sunny situations.

Thanks man, that looks awesome... I'm thinking if I do end up doing it, I'll try to find a mesh tint. I live in Qatar, and they're annoyingly strict about the brightness of lights etc when the technical inspection is up. They even have a rule about tinting 2-door cars, which is basically you're not allowed to (because they assume you're up to sketchy business).

So you're saying you used some leftover 35% tint from your windows and used the same film for your lights?

By the way, I think for a red car it's imperative to tint the tail lights. The red/red of a stock car loses all definition and contrast. Well done and good eye.

You're welcome. Sorry to hear that they're that strict over there. I think all law enforcement think that way, just some are more strict than others.

No.. I chose 35% tint for my doors and rear window. As for the taillights they called the tint "Charcoal" as the color for the tail lights.

I agree with the red, it's too much and looked out of place. I originally went in looking for a white F-Type but when I got in this one for a test drive it had $13,000 more in options than I was looking for and were willing to move on the price ALOT so I asked them to buy that exact car. I think the tinted tail lights break up the back end and when I get the car back from the stereo shop this weekend, I'm going to run it down to the vinyl sop to schedule vinyl wrapping (gloss black) the mirrors and the emblems to break up the contrast just a little more. Then I'm on to the performance upgrades until the radar is released next month.

With the super performance brakes, you are at serious risk of people driving right up your tail pipe. I would not consider dimming any lights. In fact, as I have already done on the 2 MINIs, I plan on is installing a flashing brake circuit. (5-6 rapid flashes before going steady).

In Pennsylvania brake flashers like that are illegal. PennDOT actually specifically put out a notice to say they are illegal.

Default Tint

Here are some of the back - I also did the headlights and windshield (although with the windows down, the glass doesn't look super dark)

I got the “charcoal” tint on the front and back. I’ve been pulled over a few times and the police officers did not say anything but both times but it was at night so my lights were on. I haven’t taken this particular car in for inspection but in the past with other cars, I haven’t any issues.

If you don't mind my asking, how much was your wrap + installation? I'm thinking of having one done. Are you happy with yours, any issues?

Don't mind you asking at all - the wrap was $3,000 + $500 for ceramic coating.

There are a few threads on here with respect to wrapping including costs, costs varied significantly depending on where you are; the cost also increases for textured or chrome.

The only issue I had was deciding what color to choose !
