Default Tire shot

Was joyriding a bit a few days ago. After getting back to the house, I noticed driver's side rear tire flat after about an hour. I had my father in law watch as I slowly rolled it out of the garage and he didn't see anything piercing the tire.

I subsequently pulled the tire off and found a pretty large hole just near the side wall. I was "fortunate" enough to have gotten home since I don't keep the donut spare in the trunk. Took the tire to Jaguar service and they confirmed too close to sidewall for repair. Had to purchase a new tire (but not from Jag as they wanted $100 more than TireRack.com).

Real bummer as it only has about 600 miles on it.

That's a bummer, does your V8 come with a donut? My "S" model has nothing, and I guess you can't put on a spare as there's not enough room for the full size wheel anyway.?

It was an option on the car - I bought a model off the showroom floor. But, I also got the flat fix kit after the purchase because with the spare in the trunk, nothing else can fit.

You're right, the regular wheel wouldn't fit in the trunk, so why bother carrying around a spare. You'd either have to throw the flat in the front seat (impossible if you have a passenger) or leave by the road side. So, right now the donut's just holding up the car. Jag will install the new tire I bought from TireRack, so I'll probably have to run it up there with the new one in the front seat. It will save me the time of jacking it up.

Probably too late, but you might have been able to have TireRack ship straight to your dealer.

Yeah, I saw that option, but they're a huge auto-complex (like 15 different brands) and I was afraid it would get misplaced.
