I don't think it's just random that your car has spent this much time at port. At a minimum you should ask your dealer to spec a similar car so you have a backup in case this doesn't work out. Personally I wouldn't take this car at this point. It's like buying a second hand car - there is a story here and you don't know what it is and maybe you will never know.

I am also skeptical you can't find a similar car, Jaguar doesn't have that much customization. This isn't like BMW Individual. What were your specs?

AWD R in Polaris White
Black Pack
Black Gyrodyne Wheels
Red Seat Belts
Black Interior w/ Red Stiching

I do share your mentioned concerns, but short of finding an identical vehicle or waiting another 3 months I don't have too many options.

That build will be fairly common -

you can always swap wheels if that's the only difference, That's what I was prepared to do. My dealer offered to sell me my preferred wheels at cost for the swap.

I'm with Stohlen, after investing this much time and patience I would personally see this thing through. I had hoped that both of our cars would be delivered on the same truck as they were likely built within the same day. Alas, mine had escaped the clutches of the VPC incompetence!

There is something special and satisfying about ordering a car. From the point that a VIN# is issued, it is identified as being yours. From the time the first part is installed till the plastic wrap is removed by the dealer, this car was specifically built for you. It can be very difficult to jettison that belief.

Its sounds to me that the dealer has treated him well by providing a loaner and I feel will provide him with royal service in the future.

Caveat: I would be inspecting this car with a microscope upon arrival. Any and all issues going forward (no matter how small) would be reported and dealt with as if I owned the dealership!

$.0002 isn't much of a discount if you ask me (And I think it's written as $0.02). Truth is and I'm willing to bet - and, yes, we'd all like whatever discount we can get - that Stohlen just wants his car.

P.S. While we all encourage him, once he gets it - to inspect it carefully, my guess is there won't be any problems whatsover. Although I could be wrong....

One of the things I've asked for (and received) in the past is free detailing. I'm not talking about running through there automated paint scraper, but a hand wash/wax/interior detailing. Most high end dealerships provide this service, some even offer mobile services. Two free cleanings a year for the next..say 5 years?

The $.0002 was written right and (as you know) the value of my opinion..
I was suggesting a huge discount would be due him by now for enduring all of the aggravation he's gone thru.
Lettuce all hope there's nothin wrong wid it...

Most opinions are worth something - some more "valuable" than others - and looking for or, even better, being offered one is, of course, welcome. While I'm sure Stohlen would gladly accept any additional discount, my point was he'd rather have the car - NOW - versus any additional discount. It also sounds like his dealer is not only not to blame (based on all his statements) but doing what they can, including providing him with a loaner car. Unless Jaguar steps up to the plate - based on all or much of what I've read here (make that "all") unlikely - any further discounts would come from the dealer and bite into their profit margin (not that that wouldn't be a wonderful gesture).

My 3-cents.

Me shoulda been clearer on discounts. Jaguar should offer them to him and not the dealer. It's not the dealers fault.

Agreed and while I hope I'm wrong, I seriously doubt that that's gonna happen. I guess anything is possible...

So after spending most of the day on the phone with my dealer and attempting (and failing) to get in contact with the Jaguar executive liaison, a replacement car was sourced and purchased. By 5pm I had all the details finalized. Jaguar of Naples, Fl agreed to trade a car on their lot for my order and it will be shipped up here this weekend on Jaguar's dime. (at least they are paying for something...) This model doesn't have the red seat belts unfortunately, and did have the extended leather pack and the vision pack, neither of which i cared about. So I did have to pay a little more, but my interest rate ended up being lower than expected, so its sorta (but not really) a wash.

With any luck i will have my car by next Friday. And regarding the low VIN number, this car actually has a lower VIN than my ordered car did. 22771 vs 22859.

This whole saga is mind-boggling...

If you really wanted to have the red seatbelts, get the dealer to order them in as spares & fit them for you free of charge.

They aren't that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Red Zone Seatbelts, USA Spec, Automatic Locking
Left # T2R7607CJA, Right # T2R7605CJA

Should be something like $270 each based on the UK list prices.

If you are spending $100K+ on a car, and have been messed around as badly as you have, the dealer could spend $500 and a few hours work to make his customer happy!

I am so glad that you are finally getting your car! You're going to love it. On a side note, I really think you are going to be happy to have the Vision Pack. After driving just a few days, I have been thankful for the blind spot monitoring. The auto dimming headlights actually work really well and are just "cool". The rear parking camera is pretty good, and the best part is when backing out of a parking spot, it is very hard to see, the sensors detect and warn of oncoming traffic. If it saves you ONCE from backing out into someone it's already paid for itself.

+1 on that - the Vision Pack is really worth having.

I've also had quite a few compliments on the extended leather interior - a really classy enhancement!

Congratulations on finally getting a resolution. Happy for you, Stohlen!

I think you made a good move. Got a better car for the same price. You can always add the red belts. They cost $260 each in the US (google the part numbers the other guy posted).

Congratulations on the new car. I think this one will be better for you. You had a lot of negative thoughts associated with the one that was delayed. This one so far has only been positive.

I have both the extended leather and vision packs and they are worthwhile enhancements.

I also had to replace an F-type (I totalled My first one) and could not be happier to start over. Like you, I also got a better rate on the replacement, which is a lasting benefit that will ease your annoyance over time.

Happy motoring!

Brad
