This season is the first time that they haven't significantly delayed the US airing vs. UK. Think it's only delayed a day or so vs. the usual 2-3 months.

Yes, it was much better this year with the delays. I did some research and it looks like the ultimate road trip 2 specials (that aired last night and next week) were taped in 2013, so there was a 2 year delay before it aired here :-(

That was not the first airing, I have that on my DVR for sometime now and when I recorded it it was also not the first run. I caught the first airing at the end and searched for it to DVR the entire show.

Its being reported on our radio here this morning that Clarkson has finally received his marching orders and been sacked, and that Chris Evans is replacing him.

Can't seem to find any absolute confirmation of it online anywhere, although News limited reported "it was about to happen today" (knowing full well that News doesnt mind stretching the facts to make a story).

Jeremy Clarkson to be fired by BBC?

Whilst Evans is a nice guy and confirmed car enthusiast, I'm not sure Top Gear would really ever be the same again without JC.

Yeah I heard that was going down today as well. Honestly I think this is it for this generation of Top Gear. Hammond and May have said they wouldn't continue without Clarkson. So I'm betting we'll get to see the final three episodes that were in the can with some studio bits recorded using Chris Evans (or without him) and then that is it for the three. They'll go off and do their own thing, either together on their own. They have the connections.

Yep, that's it. It's over. Even if Hammond and May stayed, Evans can't come close to filling Clarkson's role, and the show won't last without him.

The BBC has just confirmed that JC's contract is not being renewed.

Velocity doesn't have enough viewers.

My guess is they will either end up on ITV or Netflix who will then syndicate the show to other networks. Netflix is an elegant answer because like the BBC they aren't dependent on advertisers and therefore could preserve the excesses of the show.

They already present other shows for BBC, although no question, Top Gear is by far the biggest. But James Mays' beer and wine shows were entertaining.
