Default TPMS sensor issue

So i just bought new wheels and they came mounted on new tires and aftermarket Tire pressure sensors. I figured it would save me the hassle of doing it at a local tire shop. I was told that once i drive for a few miles, they will program automatically. Well i have driven about 500 miles and the Tire pressure fault light is still on.

Took it to jaguar and they didnt even touch it. Told me since its after market wheels, take them to discount tire or so and have them put the orginal sensors on, cause they are different and those are the only ones that work with the car. For some reason i find this hard to believe.

Any opinions/ideas on what can be done?

Thanks in advance

Try a forum search as there are helpful threads on this out there.

500 miles is plenty, they should have sync'd up by now. Chances are the sensors that were fitted are the wrong frequency for your car (350 MHz vs 433 MHz I believe).

If you replace with genuine sensors, it will resync when driving. If you have aftermarket ones, the Jaguar system is not set up to recognise aftermarket.

You're best off putting the original sensors back in.....

That isn't correct. They need not be OEM, just the proper frequency. That said I suppose you could never exclude the fact that some 3rd party sensor wouldn't play nice.

I have non-OEM sensors from tire discounters that work fine.

I think it's sort of true. The Jag system seems temperamental with non oem sensors. Even if the right frequency. For some people they work fine, but for many they give system errors. Sometimes intermittently, sometimes permanent

Sadly it's not cheap to get oem ones, but I'd be pretty sure if you do that will sort it out
