I installed new tires, wheels, and TPMS on my 2009 XKR. The new TPMS came already set up to be synced directly to the 2009 Jag XKR. After installing the TPMS and driving for about 10 minutes the Jaguar recognized the new TPMS and all warning lights on the dash panel went out. They worked well for about three weeks but now the TPMS goes on and off intermittently. Sometimes it stays on for a few days then off for a week or two then back on. Tire pressure is fine and checked on a regular basis using a digital tire pressure air gauge.

Since the XKR sensed the new TPMS within 10 minutes, I feel the sensors are working, but there is something causing the car to read then not read the sensors.

The frequency of TPMS sensors are 315 Mhz.

Anyone have any ideas of why these make the warning light on the dash go on and off periodically? Is there a way to confirm that the car is sensing the TPMS? Do these sensors have to be re-programmd with a scan tool?

 

Rich - I had a similar problem on my 12 xk. I finally took it into the dealer last week and they did a firm/software update. They told me there is a bulletin out on it. That took care of the issue.

 

I also recall a post that the owner found the TPMS antenna (initiator Item 2 in PDF) behind the wheel arches had moved. He remounted it and all was well...
