Default Turn Indicator

Is it just me, or do you also find that the turn indicator is very quiet and doesn't auto cancel easily in this car?

I find I inadvertently have the indicator on in this car far more often than in any other car I have owned.

Being loud and a convertible also doesn't help, I guess.

I find it slightly too loud in my Coupe! Or rather, my wife finds it too loud, and therefore I get to hear about it...

I've not noticed the sound being quiet in mine, but the auto cancel does seem to be less sensitive than in other recent jags I've driven. There is a particular road junction I regularly drive through that always cancelled the indicators on my XJs half way through, yet it doesn't with the F Type. The indicator stalk looks to be the same part as the other cars though so AFAIK the bit that catches on the steering column to spring back the stalk to the default position should behave the same. Something must be different though. They have had some quality issues with the headlamp selection ring wearing excessively early in other models so it possible they have made an engineering change to the stalk to address that and changed the cancellation mechanism at the same time? I'm only guessing.

I think what's different is that the awesome steering precision and sensitivity makes you turn the steering wheel less

Yes. This. If they re-used the part from other cars, they didn't adjust for the varied number of turns, stop-to-stop in the f-type, which I'm certain is less than any other Jaguar out there right now.

The added noise in the convertible certainly doesn't help the situation. I've found myself being "one of those" drivers taking a left turn around the world far too often in my car... Still I hope others share my feeling that this is preferable to the "no turn signal, cut in front of me type" driver.

I do like the feature of flicking the stalk to get 3 flashes of the directional. (That's 1 ping only, Vasili.) Though I guess many modern cars do that, this is the first car I've had with that feature. Use it a lot.

Yeah, very common now, at least on European cars. Even my 7 year old Fiat has it, and Fiat is hardly known for being comparable in quality/usability to the likes of German cars (quite the opposite, in fact!).

Virtually all American cars have it as well.

My 2016 R Coupe has the loudest turn signal noise on any car i have owned just like the blown base speaker noise I have.

I agree...I find it surprisingly loud as have my passengers who have offered unsolicited comments.

Interesting, this week I traded in my '15 Base Coupe for a '16 R Coupe. Besides the obvious performance and handling differences, there are several small differences throughout the cabin. One of them is the turn signals... the turn signals in the '16 are less sensitive to initiate than the '15 and are also much louder.

That explains the crazy difference in perceptions here. The sound emitted by the directional signals on my 14 is barely audible.

I know that when I make a hands free call in my MY2016, the person I am calling always asks about the very loud ticking whenever I'm making a turn. Not only are they loud, they must be near the microphone for the handsfree phone calls.

Yes, nice and loud on the '16. Just the way I like it.

Yes mine is a 14 as well, I guess people must have complained and they fixed it.

Perhaps it was raised for JLR's consideration that it would help to dispel the "old man's car" stereotype by making it much more difficult to commit the unforgivable DWO sin of driving with your blinkers on for miles on end.

I remember my 1998 XJR had a turn signal that sounded like a grandfather clock.
A small thing that I thought added a classy touch. As to the sensitivity or loudness in my F type, it seems about normal to me.
