I'm currently out of the country on business, but will be back for Christmas. I'll hit you up when I get back and take you for a spin. I've had my car for two years now and as others have said, I still look back at it everytime I park it.

A fast charger is still a charger. I had a buddy with a Ford pinto that could beat any car in town. I'll stick with mine. You do you.

The sound and look of the F type sold me on the jag, and I'd say only consider buying if these stir up something for you. Id be hard pressed to say what else ignited my appreciation for the F type after about 2.5 years of owning one. The driving experience is great though. Looking at others in a fairly similar price bracket, the F type offers a value which is hard to match as a package, I believe you have to go further up on price to get something with the same pizazz.

I understand you think the other cars mentioned are not in the same “class” as your jag, but there is a pretty big difference in a charger and a pinto. That said, I would rather have a well optioned charger than a base model f-type both from an enjoyment and value standpoint. Again, to each their own, but no car is perfect and I enjoy having a variety for different purposes. Not too wrapped up with who is faster and which is more rare etc, no matter what you have - there is always some thing faster and better. I wouldn’t dump on anyone else’s choice anymore than I would enjoy reading a Lamborghini owner ******* out forum members.

Gaslight too much? I made a single assumption based on the comment and the rest were my thoughts on this discussion. I don’t claim to read minds but as I recall you’ve been pretty vocal about how you feel about cars that don’t have a leaping cat on them and no issues providing your very direct opinion on people and things - not a stretch. Thou thin-skinned?

Yup, no hope. Can't fix it.

I have to admit it was the looks that got thinking about an F Type. The local dealer had a Firesand V8 preview in the summer of '`13. It was expensive as equipped and gave me pause. But as the reviews came in the the V6S I started shopping! Took a few months to find one I wanted with some what of a deal and fair enough trade. No regrets!

I think your advice is spot on. Get the F-Type and another to thrash it on the 1/4 mile/ street.
ok, I'm a car guy and definitely not a brand snob or a brand flag waver. I have had pro touring classic cars that I built, mustangs, Camaros, a G35, Genesis G70 TT, BMWs, etc...

There are more things to the equation than looks and speed. I loved my Camaro SS 1LE, but I felt like a teenager or a 20 something. That camaro was about $42k out the door and was one of the best performance cars and bargains I've ever had. I just turned 46 and I really wanted a luxury sports car that made me feel like all my hard work over the years paid off. I could have bought a 911, but they bore me. The F-Type R for me is the gnarliest, most raucous choice in its category. That SC V8 is incredible! The car handles like a super car, sounds incredible, and has a classic, luxurious panache.

I love Hellcat Challengers, but again I wanted the exclusivity you cant get with those. People gawk at this Jag like it's a full on super car. i classify it as a sub supercar. It isnt cheap, but it doesnt cost super car money. However, because they are so uncommon, it gets super car attention. Plus, zero to sixty in just over 3 seconds isnt too shabby of you ask me. The F Type R (at least) is all wheel drive. It will beat hellcats, camaros, and mustangs in a drag race because of the all wheel drive traction. They come with 5 year free maintenance and warranty.

I paid $115k for my R new. Sure, I could have bought used for close to your budget, but I wanted the new styling.

The bad: with 800 miles, it's already been at the shop twice for a faulty blind spot system that still doesnt work. It is lacking in features like heads up display, voice commands, etc. My Camaro had all that and more. Heck, my RAM truck has way more goodies. Depreciation is horrible.

Is the is the F type worth the price? Nah, probably not but same can be said for BMWs and a bunch of other fancy brand cars. You're paying for class, exclusivity, heritage, and the whole package (looks, sound, performance).

Just giving u some things to think about.

I suppose one thing I will chime in is that the F Type is not cheap to mod. Nearly everything costs a lot more than you would pay for a more common car, visual, exhaust, performance.

So I have a mustang as a fun car, I feel like I am paying a half for various mods to that than I have for the f Type (which has the result that I am doing twice as much to it). But then the Mustang, as much as I like it, has nowhere near the quality of the F Type in any respect, save that I am getting equal fun driving it at the moment. I should say though that the Mustang, as lairy and orange and stripey as it is, wouldnt get half the attention that the F Type does.

The cops would agree.

During the 18 years that we owned our 1988 Mustang 5.0 LX, I was pulled over far too many times just because they thought I was a kid who needed to be taught a lesson....

As many others have said there will always be something faster on the road. And personally I like the look and sound of the Charger but for the money I wouldn't buy that either-way too many of them on the street. And I don't care what people think of what I drive. I prefer to drive something that you don't see on every corner. I am also not sure on where you have priced the M3 but I really like the M3 and was interested in one before I bought the F Type but similar year and mileage was about $10k more than what my Jag cost me and again you see M3's everywhere. I had a 94 Nissan 300ZX twin turbo built and it was pushing 500 plus hp and I got spanked by a simple Mustang GT with a bolt on supercharger. I realized then there is always faster cars and I could have had that Mustang cheaper than my Nissan but you just didn't see Z's around and yet the Mustangs were a dime a dozen. Sadly I think the new C8 will be the same. I love the initial look but have to say already getting old since I have seen that many already on the street. Buy what makes you happy and it seems the Jag just might not be the best fit for what you are looking for.

Agreed with the exclusivity. Also one of the main reasons I had bought my Ducati when it came out in 2012. I hadn't even seen one in person and placed the order from Afghanistan. I knew the Diavel wouldn't be seen by many, so when people do see it, they all want to talk about it. And the Termi exhaust system was expensive like Jag mods. But it's loud, obnoxious, looks great, and I don't feel like some young squid driving it. At 48, my back won't take sport bike ergonomics anyway. Young Soldiers I was stationed with would all ask me why I bought it and must be nice to be able to spend so much on a motorcycle. Thing is they would by the usual Hayabusa and then get chrome swingarms, custom paint, ect. and end up paying what I did, but at the end of the day they had a dime a dozen bike and spent as much as I did to try and make it stand out.

Seems like we have similar taste, I am also looking at the Diavel. I'm coming from an M109R, and am worried I am going to miss the neck-snapping tq....lol

The Diavel out accelerated all other Ducati's to 60 mph when it came out. It's an L Twin with all the torque and will rip your arms off. Don't be concerned.

Get the Ftype R. Finance it with a nice down payment. Something like $10,000. Reserve $30,000 for payments.

then Take the remaining $20,000.. and begin. Start with the upper and lower pulleys.. a tune, intercooler, 200 cell cats. Then Contact Jag and see about getting the “aluminum Billets” for weight reduction.

Then you should be safely spanking almost any car you might see on the road.
