Default Opinions on battery

Car is almost due for 3rd oil change, would you guys just go ahead and replace the battery? 2019 with 6k miles. I like getting ahead of problems. What say you?

If you keep it on a maintainer, you should get at least 5 years on a battery, especially a trunk mounted one that doesn't experience the heat of an engine compartment.
My personal record is 10 years, although that was not an OEM battery.

Assuming you keep/kept the battery on a maintainer/trickle charger and/or drive it on a regular basis... I would not change it yet. You will usually get a sign that it is weak before it just outright dies (this is where someone will come along and post that THEY had a battery that just died with no warning....Thus I said USUALLY). I would think you likely have a couple years left.

It is a personal preference though...If it worries you that it MAY die at some point, certainly change it out any time. It is not a huge expense.

I changed out the battery on my 2015 at almost 7 years with no sign of any problems. I have read that the glass mat batteries (AGMs) last a little longer than the flooded batteries. Cost wise, I suggest searching the aftermarket for a replacement . My local Jag dealer wanted $400 for a battery and they are available elsewhere for less than half of that.

X2 to letting it ride...

Don't our cars show OTHER battery issues other than a failure to start? THAT is when to start shopping.

Just replaced the battery on my '15 today, actually. H8 AGM @ Costco - $179. It was not showing any electronic hiccups yet, but it seemed to crank just a little slower, and the resting voltage was under 12.4 kept on a maintainer, so 'twas on the way out.... Why ever did Jaguar make the ground cable so short?? Surely another couple inches wouldn't hurt.

Kind of a loaded question - no telling when one could fail. I would think a 2019 would be good for at least another year and maybe two assuming it’s not showing any signs of weakening. I replaced my 2016 battery last year - no issues at all and the car only has 17k (3000 in the last 3 years). It’s stored in a climate controlled garage and I have a CTEK but haven’t used it yet. I replaced to avoid having a random issue and to avoid trying to find a way to get inside if it went dead.

Use the fob's emergency key to unlock the driver's door., pop the hood and connect a booster to the underhood terminals (have your fob handy to turn off the alarm!) and you can then pop the trunk and sort the battery out.

The OEM battery is good quality; like others, mine was going strong when I replaced it at 7 years. Will the Duralast $199 I put in last as long? Dunno. I used to change batteries at 5 years as they often die at inconvenient times or places.

I found the OEM battery did 7-8 years for me. I've been through 2x duralast in the last 4 years and now gone back to OEM again. Maybe just bad luck.

I've just started year nine with no battery problems, barely takes much of a trickle charge. My start-stop died for a second time years ago and not replaced. Don't know if my low mileage is a contributing factor, summer heat doesn't seem to have affected it.

Same here. Car was purchased June 2013. Low mileage also. I would think less use would be worse for a battery.

Depends on the usage PATTERN.

If you often move the car around for short periods, you will reduce the battery reserve quite a bit.

So, that is why we make it a point to drive our F for 30 - 45 minutes, all at one time, on a weekly basis. (as, in the winter).
I HAVE a maintainer, but haven't needed to use it AT ALL following this regimen.

Aside from being cautious when the temps are too cold for the summer tires, it's FUN!
