Default UK Warranty Claims

I have booked my 2015 F-type into Jag next week for a few issues that I have spotted since picking the car up a few weeks back.

I have seen people have had varying success on getting parts replaced under warranty but I think some of these are folks from the US and Australia.

Side windows are getting the scratches on them from the sills.

Rear callipers are looking very faded and loosing a lot of the red paint.

Headlights have the common water marks on the inside lens. I'm not expecting much joy here, seen as they mention it in the manual, but I have seen someone had managed to get them changed. So thought I should at least mention it.

Any suggestions or advice to argue my case would be appreciated.

I think standards are different in America. People are a lot less likely to accept defects in a status car like F-type.

The windows should be replaced without question - I just gave my dealer the TSB reference and mentioned in advance that both windows were scratched enough that I could catch my finger nail on them (which means they needed replacement rather than just polishing). I note that the original JTB00502 mine was fixed under has been replaced with a new JTB00502v2 which involves replacing just the brush/seal part and not the entire trim piece, so make sure your dealer uses the latest revision.

Regarding the headlamps, JTB00379 covers the standard replacement decision for water in headlamps across their models. I've attached so you can judge where your water marks fall. With marking you will have more luck getting a replacement if it falls within the beam area as it can distort/refract the light and shine into oncoming vehicles.

No idea about the callipers. They are easily repainted if it is not covered, and you can replace the anti rattle clip with the logo on if needed.

Thanks for the information. So JTB00502v2 is the one I want to make sure they use? In order to replace the full seal/brush part as well as the windows, as a few of the marks I would say are finger nail dip.

Where about's do i find the attachment for the headlights? Cant seem to see any links.

The calipers is the least of my concerns, but thought I would mention it while its in, and I saw someone on one of the forums did manage to get his changed for the same reason.

Oops, I missed the attachment. I have added it to my first message now.

Yes JTB00502v2 is the current bulletin for dealing with the vertical window scratches. Mention to your deal about the depth of the scratches so they can order the windows in advance to reduce waiting time.

Dave, the rear calipers either 326 mm or 376 mm don't have anti-rattle clips, that's only the front calipers (both 355 mm and 380 mm).

All of the above are known issues to both EU and US markets.

You should have luck by quoting these numbers at your dealership:

SSM72185 - F Type - Painted Rear Brake Caliper Cosmetic Appearance (Replace if necessary)
JTB00314v2 - Headlamp Staining (Replace HL units)
JTB00502 - Vertical Scratches on windows (New design waste seals and replacement glass)

You should be able to get the above replaced. Keep an eye out for the rear diff and oil leaks next!

Thanks for those. Hopefully they will help. Although you're not reassuring me on this car. I sold my R8 as I wanted something newer, that would hopefully have less potential issues.

Just an update on this.

I had to cancel my original booking, so the cars been with them since Monday morning. Only just started looking at the car this morning. So as you can imagine I wasn't best pleased with the service so far.

I got a call earlier today saying, they are replacing the window sills and side windows which I hoped for anyway. They are willing to replace one of the headlights, I hoped for both, but one is definitely worse than the other. I am arguing for the other as I am sure it does have some marks on the inside.

So far they are not willing to replace the rear calipers, saying they do fade over time, but I have asked them to go back to Jag again.

Hopefully i'll get some good news tomorrow.

Dealers are hit or miss. Some are awful and will leave you hanging, some will go on a limb for you. If you don't get all your issues resolved, consider visiting different dealership.
