Funny enough for that, they removed the engine cover from the V8 in production for 'increased cooling', I'd bet the added silicone does more harm than removing the cover does good.
Also, why the original outlet pipes on a modded car?

Engine cover removed only to show the full glory of my silicone creation, I keep the cover on always. I live in CT, not too worried about the effect of the engine cover (or my silicone bits).
You mean the coolant outlet pipes? I guess the prior owner installed those mods (both pulleys, intake, 200 cell cats) but didn't want to go full monty and remove the SC. I have plans for that coming soon (in the other thread, think you're in it).
From the top:
- What my engine cover looks like with the mod using silicone mats
- The level of corrosion that my original engine was found at after 34, 000 miles/7 years (my understanding is that the car had been mostly garaged before my ownership. Still, water managed to find its way into the rockers and sit on the V of the engine. It looked like as if the engine had been pulled from the sea! Absolutely shocking really).
- What my JLR replacement engine looked like when it was fitted last year
A few folks have received their and are sharing photos in the FB group page... Remember that these are not for AWD cars... those covers are different...
Didn't think they'd be here until Monday, but I got a Something to Do on Saturday break.
Pieces as advertised. Laid them out, did a practice test fit to see what was what. The 'kit' also comes with a tube of gasket sealer and a nitrile glove.
I used an open tube of sealer that I had on hand, one that has a pointed tip/spout for laying the sealer. I used a popsicle stick to spread the sealant along the grooves and as spreader on the flatter areas. The Savers are a snug fit, don't think they'd fall off without the sealant, but not willing to chance that.
The kit is $68 USD with $24 USD shipping. There were no additional COD or Tarifl on Demand costs. Nicely packed in a plastic shipping bag, cushioned top and bottom with shipping padding and all fit in a nice box.

I'm not in a position to do a lot of things I'd like to do with this car, so I do what I can. IMO this is a reasonable protective solution to the water ingress problem. I also think it is an attractive solution. The material looks like what the engine cover is made of. Any color variations from that 'black' are only light reflections.
The car is a 2017 V6 Premium.

When you get an answer to that question.. it's probably 'where do you stop'... a small car company and trying to manage costs. Similar to now how no owner/user manuals come with appliances or tools... just point your phone at the QR code.
My curiosity has been.. how did my car make it past QC with missing right side Headlight bolts? no evidence that they were EVER installed.
