Default V8 cat only delete

Has anyone ever I heard the v8's exhaust with only the cats deleted while keeping the stock exhaust? I'm curious as to how that would sound. Should be a cheap mod to do a custom shop. Just don't want to have any regrets

You are asking this, and you live in California?

Regrets: Won't pass the visual check, and will surely set a CEL.

That said, I'd be curious how it would sound, as well.

Would a tune be required for the cel? And yes, I live in CA. I also don't have front plates lol.

That's no good, but if you want to go further (to jail)

No, you could add a O2 sensor spacer to eliminate the CEL. You can make your own by drilling out a $5 spark plug spacer, or buy a $15 O2 spacer from ebay. Per side.

So the post-cat sensors on the FType (there are 2 post-cat sensors per bank, 3 sensors per bank total) are wideband sensors. If you run an O2 spacer on these, it will start messing up the fuel trims and will likely also generate slow response codes for the sensor. This sort of trick used to work on older stuff (we still do it on Murcielagos etc.) but on more modern vehicles it presents more challenges.

I can tell you this - we used to sell catless downpipes for the FTypes but discontinued them as most people did not like the sound. A large proportion of the people who purchased them ended up switching to the sport catted downpipes. You may like the sound though, just some context & experience to share

Thats interesting, thanks for the info. I've never seen a spacer not work fine, but haven't tried it on an F. Have you guys tried it and confirmed it does not work, or are you talking theoretically? Cuz that was my post 8 year warranty game plan .

I have 200 cell cat downpipes on my 16 R and I would never want to go catless, it would not only be to loud but sound like ****. The cars exhaust is already very high pitched and rather raspy, the sport cats are perfect for everyday driving and very controllable, in quiet mode it’s just like stock. Don’t go catless, this so coming from someone who loves loud exhaust, like huge thumping v8 cammed engines with long tubes and no cats at all that sound like drag cars. The jag motor is a different breed of loudness and raspiness. Get the VAP 200 cell sport cats.
