The V8S could be louder at low RPMs

Default The V8S could be louder at low RPMs

I pretty much always drive with the top down in sport + dynamic mode + the exhaust button on, at 1,000 to 2,500 RPMs. It's not that I don't want to floor it but there's never enough room in front of you to really push the car. In this sort of driving, the car barely makes any noise.

Sure this car is as loud as a Ferrari or Lambo at high RPMs (mine might even be louder, I'd have to measure) -- but those cars blow mine away in LA traffic. Every time I'm at a stop light with one of those next to me, once we pull away in our 10-20mph traffic, their cars make this loud vroom sound whereas you can barely hear my car. Even more embarrassing, my car still makes that fart sound when I accelerate from 0 to 20mph and then hit the brakes in this terrible traffic. It really shouldn't make that fart sound after such a meager acceleration. That's a sound that should be saved for when you really floor it, no?).

Any way, that's all for tonight's rant.

have you tried driving it in manual and keeping it in 1st gear? 1st gear at 4k+ rpm is pretty obnoxious already.

That's not a bad idea but even in first it goes pretty fast quick. I read somewhere that it can go 42mph in first. But I should try that for a while to get used to driving in first.

well I drove around exclusively in 1st and 2nd gear to run errands. the vroom sound was a little better, but still not as loud as a lambo. And the backfire sound was really loud. Why did Jaguar make an exhaust that makes explosive backfire sounds if you accelerate to a mere 15mph in 1st gear and then take your foot off the gas? Isn't that like a weightlifter making huge grunting sounds at the gym when doing curls with 10lb barbells?

ultimately, this car needs a custom exhaust to boost the vroom sound for day to day driving, without boosting the backfire sound. I hope companies make custom exhausts for the f type.

Pull away in second. Still gives brutal acceleration, is very loud and it's a longer gear than 1st.
