Default Permanent dashcam install : anyone done it?

Got a new dashcam and will be looking for a decent auto electrician to permanently wire it. Anyone here done this yet? Did you link it to the fuse box or splice it to the 12v power adaptor?

And was it easy to route the cable behind the pillar facings? Pics would be really appreciated

Someone on the forum did a custom install for radar detector. Search for that, think he had to also run a line for power.

Perhaps if you were to use a head, or helmet mounted GoPro?

I didn't think to comment on the install.

The wire is ran in the grove where the headliner meets the window and then down the drivers side a pillar. To be honest, I don't know which specific cable it was connected to, but I can tell you it was in the center console. There is a panel that comes off relatively easy. My XJL had the same type detector installed but it was hooked up to an accessory wire that remained on for 3 minutes after shutting the car down.

If you find a good, non obtrusive and non ugly dash cam.... Just take it to a car audio shop. Prolly cost you $75 bucks.

I have a passport max installed in my car also. Installer found switched power in the overhead console - no need to run wires down the pillar to the center console.

Maybe he used the wire in center console because of the mute/mark switch. Where is yours installed?

Also. When you are playing music thru BT, does the Max always play audio thru the system when it's connected? Mine only works sometimes. With top down and radio up... I sometimes miss alerts.
