Have to say it may seem to some outsiders a bit pathetic to have a plate referring to your divorce. If you want to meet someone else this plate won't help!

My wife won't let me even consider a red F-Type (I really like the IRR). She considers it too much of a midlife cliché for a man of my advanced years. Unless I live to 120, I am well past midlife, however.

Still, I think she's a gem for letting me get one in ANY other color.

I love cars with personalized plates. Gives the car character, even if it's a dinky little Scion IQ or Smart. As car enthusiasts we personify our cars to some extent, so why not give her a little color

I just got the Jaguar and have "A Bimmer" vanity plate from the Z4 I traded. I have to wait a couple of weeks to order a new plate. My friends are already making fun of the plate.

UK plates are a little different. The plate you want has to already exist. Supply and Demand then kick in.

Interesting. So you can't actually request a personalized plate? You can only trade it yours with someone else? So if you had a really cool plate (say something with 911) a Porsche guy might pay you $$$ to buy it off you?

I was just trying to offer you some helpful advice. I can imagine a divorce is tough especially at this time of year.

But try to keep a positive spirit and move forward. Your plate doesn't help you doing that. Singing carols might help.

Merry Christmas.

These cars are really rare here and no one knows what it is. This plate helps. Called a personalised plate in this part of the world. Sounds better but less honest than a vanity plate!

LOL, I've had personalized plates on each car I've owned for past 15 years. Everything from sports cars to my dinky Yaris commuter. Only thing off limit is plates w/ my name on it That's tooo vain Reminds me of stories I hear about Chinese millionaires paying $$$$$$$$$$$$ for plates with the number "8" because apparently 8 is lucky.

I once read where the People's Republic of California sued a driver because he refused to return his standard issued license plate as requested, it read, UPURZ2. Someone thought it too politically incorrect.

Ever hear the expression "Back away....back away!". Might be applicable here.

Got it. Although the UK vehicle registration number issuing authority sell registration numbers that either have never been issued, or are not currently in use. Additionally, there are companies that buy and sell registrations that are already in use There have been several different numbering systems over the last century, so there's quite a bit of variety.

Have a look at at the following:

DVLA Personalised Registrations - Buy private number plates direct from the DVLA. From £250 fully inclusive
