Anyone have a DIY for replacing the VAP sport cat? I took a look at where the bolts are for the downpipe section, and in particular, I'm unsure if I need to take out the wheels to reach the bolt that's by the manifold section. I'd appreciate any insight into this.
Check the forum you will find recent posts about replacing a down pipe. It requires torque adapter with extensions and elbow grease. If its the drivers side you must remove the starter cable and the undertray under the transmission. No wheel removal or front undertray removal which saves a lot of time. Basically breaker bar. extenstions and a torque adapter with at least 2 inch offset to do the job. Enjoy!
Just got my Cats/downpipes ordered from VAP... (My wife bought them for me )Should be here early next week. Does anyone know what size the Exhaust Bolts/Nuts are? Going to see if I can find a Torque Adapter and just want to buy one as opposed to a whole set! Any other info greatly appreciated. I will try to document like usual and take photos and make a DIY if/when I can get it done.
Thanks in advance all...

wow congrats on such a great wife! Mine would have thrown a shoe at me if I’d ask her for exhaust upgrades for Christmas 😂
Look what showed up today. Shame you can’t see them installed...
Let’s be honest the sticker is the most important part
Haha! Mine are going to be here in an hour or so too! Then the install You installing yours yourself? If you can tell me what size the nut is, I would appreciate it. It appears the bolt goes through the flange and the nut you remove is on the top side, from what I can tell. I also got a copy of the shop manual and posted below...maybe will help you out. Got it from a repair franchise I am selling/financing.

Thanks for the link! I’ll install these myself. The good part of having the off-road version is I can just raise the air suspension and roll under this thing. I crawled under and was able to touch all of the nuts and studs with the under panels still on. Once I drop those it looks like I have a ton of room. I think I can do it with just a crows foot attachment. Nuts on mine are definitely 15 mm. Some how that was a great secret of the internet 🤷🏻♂️
I’ll probably knock out the job by the weekend. It’s just the 4 studs and two exhaust clamps plus the 4 O2 sensors. I’d like to do it tomorrow but my schedule is packed.
Here is a picture of the bottom stud on the drivers side. The nut is on the other side but the flange isn’t to big for a crows foot to reach across.

Thanks! Appears to be a bit tighter on the F-Type, but someone did it, so I am going to try Now that I know the Nut size, I can order the torque adapter. When you say "Crows Foot."...Do you mean these? if so, I have a set of them!

Exactly. I have access to a lift so I’ll put it up any try some penetrate spray to loosen them up. The Crows foot only has two solid contacts opposed to the torque adapter having six. Mine is still pretty new so there’s a chance the crows foot will work. If not I’ll back out and get a torque adapter.

You need a multi point torque adapter with at least 1/2 inch neck in between the 3/8 and socket otherwise you won't get a solid seating due to the cats being so fat and offsetting your extension. Snap-On sells long enough offset adapters. Enjoy!

I have been searching all over for a 15 mm 3/8" Torque adapter with no luck. I hate to buy a whole set, as they are steep. Another option I may try (What I did for the headers on my 997 TT), is to use a box-end wrench, and heat it and bend it with a torch then cut the bottom off and add an extension/breaker? Mine is pretty new and clean looking as well. Plan on a little PB Blaster soak, and then go at it...

‘Good point, I did this trick installing the downpipes on my GTR with a crows foot, swivel joint and 36in extension. Though the TQ adapter looks like to better tool for the job.

Ok, after supersportml said that I realized I’ll just do it the right way the first time and I found out Napa has the 15mm TQ adapter for 15.99.

Awesome! Thanks for this. None local, but just ordered. Will be here Wednesday! Appreciate your finding that one! Now I won't likely need to fabricate another tool

BTW...DHL must have gotten lost on their way from Chicago?? Never delivered my items....Still says on truck??
You guys are going to love these down pipes! It's ****ing hilarious (maybe I'm just a big child) when it comes to cars and exhaust... but it's very Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! Only give away is the ridiculous cold start lol When cruising around valves open it's fine. When valves are closed you can literally go around unoticed in terms of noise. Open it up and GOD DAMN... you just woke up the entire neighbourhood LOL See my videos to get an excellent idea.

Lol. Great, my neighbors are going to love me even more. The SVR is the "quiet vehicle". The GTR with 102mm titanium exhaust is painful to be in the garage with during a cold start. I need to get a Tesla just for my commute to keep the peace.
I'm subscribed to your channel. Appreciate the content. There's not much out there on the F-Type besides the car reviews. I enjoy seeing one get modded for the street. I'd recommend the TCU tune next. You'll enjoy the increase in responsiveness.

Big thumbs up! Enjoy! I will be looking into the transmission tune next year. Forged wheels and Lithium battery are pricey in $CND

Agree...Thanks for the content and info/videos also. My Cats just arrived about an hour ago! I agreed to help a friend and put brakes on their car, so my lift/ middle bay will be occupied tomorrow After I am done, I plan on hoisting it up Thursday and seeing if I can get it done. Going to take my time. Also will pull the wheels off and take them to have the new tires I have, put on! Also, I have an Oil Catch Can, I am going to try and install....Then I am also planning on the Transmission tune....Then I guess I will have to get another 911 Turbo and start modding again ...Or just use the money to keep paying the crazy tuition at my 14 Y/O son's private Christian College Prep Academy...Probably going to be choice B...haha But he is worth it!
When I am all done, I will try to piece together another DIY with photos to help others.
