VelocityAP Exhaust Development Jaguar F-Type V8S, V8R, V6 & V6S
Hi All,
We're pretty close to wrapping up development work on our headers for the V6 & V8 FTypes, but a little-know fact is that we are also working on an exhaust setup.
Our jig will allow us to offer a conventional non-valved exhaust in our 3 different sound levels:
Supersport
Sport
Touring
We will also be offering a Race/Touring sound level Valvetronic option for those who want to retain that functionality. Supersport & Sport will probably be the go-to sound levels for those who are looking for just an exhaust, with Sport & Touring suiting those who are fitting sport cats or headers/cats and looking to smooth out the exhaust tone. We have lots of experience pairing these same mufflers with the Aston V8 Vantage in the same internal configurations & sound levels. Often when fitting sport cats you need a suitable exhaust to pair with it and sometimes the stock exhaust just doesn't produce the right tone with those combinations of mods.
V8 Development will be done in the next couple of days, some sound clips posted. The jig we have built will accommodate a V6 exhaust, so we will be looking for a donor car/part to add fixtures for the V6 tip sections so we can offer these for V6 cars also.
And a question - for the V6 guys, are you interested in a package that includes a V8 exhaust with quad tips + OEM Jag parts to convert the rear to the quad style tips?
Stuart, I'd take a Valvetronic quad for the V6 if you could make it out of titanium. The stock dual tip sounds and looks just fine, but I'd like to shed the extra 30 lbs. of weight.

What was it Merle Haggard said about money & time? LOL!
We can do Titanium, prefer Inconel as we can actually get 180 degree bends whereas Titanium you can just about get 90's but usually end up with a million pie cuts.
Stuart i already have your sport cats, one thing i've noticed is its made the sound more raspy!!
Will your exhaust smooth it out and sound more like a v8 should.

Hi Tim,
That's exactly the idea. It's not so much about sound attenuation, (although certainly some volume reduction can be achieved) as it is about quality of sound and tonal quality.
We have been through this exact situation before with the V8 Astons, and yes, when sport cats are fitted often a different type of silencer to the original is required to achieve a good tone and eliminate any raspy tones.
So usually we'll go with a Touring silencer for sport catted cars - it's not so much that it's a whole bunch quieter than the back box with valves open, but just a smoother more refined tone.
I was planning to make my V6S quad-tipped, so I am down for the mod to quad tip for the V6.
Okay I'll need to do some research to see what the parts list looks like to convert. Obviously the valence needs changing but I think the reflectors are different too.

It's just the diffuser portion which looks to be expensive. We may be able to produce that part elsewhere, or come up with an alternative that makes it feasible.
Will you have any clips without sport cats? Will Race Valve be following Touring shortly after?
I think we are too tight on time finishing up this car to demo any other sound levels at this point. However, if you're interested email me at Stuart@VelocityAP.com and I can give you some information on our launch pricing.
We will be letting the first few systems go at VERY aggressive pricing to customers who are willing to shoot some high quality sound clips and post reviews. Since they are early production without other customer reviews to go by we will also be offering them on an exchange basis - meaning that if you ordered Supersport and decided it was too loud we would exchange for a Sport or Touring for example.

Hi Stuart, have you decided on the width or diameter of the exhaust tips. May I suggest at least 3.50 inch diameter tips, possibly polished stainless steel. Should be bigger than the OEM exhaust tips.
