My tuner guys told me to make sure that I ran it on 98 only now that it is tuned. I think he explained why but I run mine on 98 anyway so I wasnt really paying too much attention and I was busting my nuts to get in and have a drive.

No, absolutely not. The V8S is quite de-tuned vs the R, having run a car back to back with stock V8S and stock R tunes, they are not the same, the V8S is really neutered...
The confusion comes from some data in the stock V8S calibration file, in the header of the file it says "510PS" like the XFR, but it could be a typo of course.

It's a bit of a mute point though, if someone is trying to decided between a tuned V6S or a stock V8S, if they got a V8S they would probably be putting a tune in it anyhow, because once the bug has bitten....

I do know that finding exactly what I want will not be easy (exterior/interior color combo, packages, vert, mileage, etc...).
I bought and sold my V6 S for exactly the same price, so I sucked up the tax etc. My 2 year older V8 S was $5K more at the time with 16K instead of 20k miles (I drove my V6 S from 15-20K miles). But my V8 is CPO'd to late 2020 and the V6 S was under normal warranty to a few months later at not CPO.

Looking at Jags CPO site, they are closer in price today. I have put about $2K in tires and tune into the V8 S to bring it up to a very usable 560 WHP. It's outrageous fun.

Someone told me that if I say have it tuned for RON98 (failed to find corresponding AKI) and fill the car with RON95 (AKI 87?), I should really be careful not driving it fast, otherwise it could end in burnt valves... and if not, it won't be healthy for the car anyway.

What do you think?
An RON of 98 will equate to a 93-94 AKI depending on ethanol content. An RON of 95 equates to an AKI of 90-91.

Wouldn't change a thing

My friend is leaving the US before the BF.
And delivery costs around 650$ to my country which would make the same total if I bought it with the discount

Can I use the belt and tune from F-type on an F-Pace? Both V6S, I see the F-Pace replacing the F-Type in a couple of years. About to pull the trigger on the tune and pulley for my F-Type taking advantage of the 25% Black Friday deal.

Short answer - yes.

Long answer - it depends on which FType. There's two different versions of the crank pulley with two offsets. We also use 2 different length belts depending on which tensioner version is on the car. If you gave us your past order number, and the VIN of the car you were buying, we could verify.

Hey just wondering, are the valvetronic exhaust for the v6 and crank pulley still on back order/needing to be made from around two weeks ago?

Yes, we should be starting another production run later this week.

Folks,
When updating the car firmware with VAP box, do I need to use any extra battery?
Asking because the manual says "Connect vehicle to power source" like isn't it connected already to the battery lol?

OzXFR's words above:
The only caveat with installing the tune yourself is you need to have a fairly powerful battery tender hooked up - preferably at least 30 amps - during the process otherwise you risk bricking the ECU.

Not quite clear to me why the original car battery isn't enough...

Cambo can cover this better than me, but what VAP are saying is that you need to be double sure that the battery is putting out at least 12.6v at all times while programming the ECU (installing the tune), and you need a charger/tender/maintainer for this as just the car battery by itself will drop below 12.6v during this process, often as low as 12.2v
My tender/maintainer is a "mere" 15 amps but I have used the VAP V-Tech programming tool four or five times to install a tune to the ECU with zero problems.
Each time I connected the tender up and let it run right through it's seven stage process to "maintain" - and left it running in maintenance mode - before I plugged in the VAP tool, and I didn't disconnect the tender until after the tune was fully installed and the VAP tool was unplugged from the OBD2 port.

. I actually use just a 6 amp charger, but I make certain all accessories are turned off when flashing the ECU.

Just got back from the service highly disappointed
1) The VAP belt appeared to be 100% the same as my OEM belt - two sided, 1438 length (this is written on both belts)
2) The technicians said that there will be no space (or very little) for the belt between new lower VAP pulley and idler pulley. But anyway the belt from VAP is too short to put.

So they put everything back as it was and let me go home crushed and crying.

Attached the photo with idler pulley (red arrow) with lower pulley removed. Everything is stock

How could that happen? What do I do now?
