Default What is the best way to care for, and clean a convertible soft top

Hello everyone,

I just picked up my new F Type, and am wondering if anyone can share their ideas and thoughts on the best way to care for the soft top?

do you suggest using a specific protectant or cleaner etc..?

I appreciate everyone's advice. Thank you,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center section to the F-Type section. (the Advice / Feedback section is for questions about the forum and NOT for technical questions).

The Jaguar recommended roof care is:

1. do not leave the convertible roof in the open (folder) position for long periods than necessary as in certain circumstances permanent soiling along the folds may occur

2. CLEANING: every 1000 miles vacuum clean and wash the convertible roof

3. REPROOFING: every 5000 miles reproof the convertible roof material maintenance

Members who have been running and caring for the previous XK/XKR convertible might have gained valuable experience over a longer time period and have recommendations for suitable cleaning and proofing products.

I have a Jaguar XKR with black convertible top.......I use this product, and it has high reviews........I apply with a brush, rather than the spray to keep the product OFF the PAINT and GLASS........since the F-Type top is so small, it is a very easy job to complete.

Hope this helps, it's a small price to pay to keep the top in pristine condition.

Enjoy your F-Type, it's a beautiful sports car.

I've tried every single product on the market and nothing - I mean nothing comes close to RaggTop for protecting your convertible top. I am an investor in a detailing company and those guys swear by the stuff. I have used it on three cars and in each case water literally jumps off the soft top as if it were a magnet with reversed polarity. That is my recommendation.

Isn't that second product for vinyl tops only?

This link will give a little information about what I do for roof care. We have had several conversations about other products on the market and the 303 seems to be good but I have been using RaggTopp. See if this helps.
