The strap that hold the cargo cover snapped on one side. Does anyone know the name/part number?

Bad news: Those straps are an integral part of the $630 cargo cover.

I would just get a shoelace and replace the strap.

Mine snapped when the cover fell off the brackets and jammed against the tailgate and I forced it open. Had the whole lot replaced under warranty, including the grommet "fix" for the brackets.

If you own a 2016 in USA you should still have warranty coverage.

I am pretty sure the Evoque uses the same strap & it is available as a separate part.

Not sure about that - there's no way to refit the strap if it pulls out.

Default Per Post 14, the washers work!!! Leftovers free!

Post 14 in Cargo Cover Shelf String...

I bought a bag (10) of these washers and put the two in today. (MY2017, premium coupe). Dead on! Yes, a bit snug to fit over the posts, but I used some Maguiars vinyl/rubber treatment (either 40, regular or 57, which I moved to .. a marine grade). Used it to clean off the molding powder and spritzed the posts. Got them started and rotated them to get them to move inwards. Fit the hatch back on.. no sliding!!

I now have 8 of them left. Please PM me if you would like a pair, first 4 replies. I will mail them for free, please provide US (mainland) address. thank you!

My issue is not the string broken, but the rubber nipples will not stay plugged in and hold the weight of the cover. What do the washers do?

The washers hold the cover central so they don't don't drop off at either end. And end up jammed against the rear door so the cords snap when you force the door open (ask how I know). All fixed under warranty for me, though.

Default What the washers do

Yes, without the washers, the cargo cover can slide from side to side on those 'pegs'. What the washers do is take up the free space equally on both sides and keep the CC centered. Look at the other thread that's like this one. Post 14 has great photos of these washers in place. I also have extras that I'll send out, free.
However, if your pegs are sloping down, this may not help.
