I always wanted to drive an Elise and on my list of cars was an Evora S but I couldn't find one close enough to test drive and also couldn't seem to find anyone locally that specialized in them either in case it needed work outside my scope. Has anyone had any experience with the Alfa Romeo 4C? That was another car on my list. Seems like the pricing on those went up and now also not easy to find.
Had and sold 3 different MKIV supra turbos in the late 90's which are now worth 6 figures😞. Otherwise no regrets....only buy a new car when I like it better than the old one.
2011 BMW 135 M sport Dinan Stage II, my track car. Why did I do that? now I need to get another 2011 to 2013.
Just last month my 1996 Black Chevrolet Impala SS with 40,000 miles in immaculate condition which I babied from new. At least an old guy bought it who would never put 22in rims on it. So that helped to ease the pain.
On the bright side I can now look for new toys. A Dodge Hellcat looks somewhat appealing.
Well... this is really off-topic for a Jaguar forum, esp. about a sports car. But I do think about my old '74 Bronco on occasion. It had, um, *dimensional* issues that made it somewhat imperfect for the Rubicon, but that didn't stop me.
And it looked like hell after I rolled it on the Black Rock deserts (duh... "issues"). But I loved the "Wrinkle", and it was sad to see it go.
A neighbor offered me her Bronco pickup about ten years ago that her husband had tricked out. I drove it around town several times. But, that reminded me of how much of a high-maintenance vehicle it was even then. Hate to even think what it'd be like now. Still...
1973 Porsche 911S 2.4 MFI, last of the early cars, bought it for 18k, sold it for 23k, now it would be worth >100k. Great little car, but would not pay that much for one now.
Ones I miss:
2005 BMW Z4si Coupe - great track car
1995 Ferrari 355 GTB - awesome sound and driving experience. Don't miss the cost of maintenance.
2015 Jaguar F-Type R - Awesome car overall.
I can think of a number of Corvettes (C7 Z06's specifically) and a couple of early Vipers ('95 &'99), but the one I miss the most was my 2013 GT-R. This picture is a duplicate of mine and I still remember the thrill this car gave me. And if you like gauges on your dashboard, you haven't lived until you've seen the layout in the R35 GT-R.
I like the GT-R but just couldn't see buying one and the values have not come down at all which doesn't help my view point. I know it is suppose to be an amazing car but the looks don't do much for me and I just don't know why. I am sure if I drove one my mind may change.
2006 Pontiac GTO
Most of the rest of my cars I was either happy to get out of (2008 Audi S4 6MT) or they were just transportation. One that I still miss, but it was wrecked by someone going the wrong way on a one way street was my 1987 Saab SPG.
Pic stolen from the web as I could not find a picture of that car. It did everything well and was just a phenomenally good car.
Funny story on the GT-R. I had sold my Viper about 15 months prior to buying the '13 GT-R and just held on to the money, no car in my price range did anything for me.. My wife and I were out shopping and we passed a Nissan dealer who had this car roped off in his showroom. I pulled into the dealership and walked around that GT-R and knew right then I would be buying it. As I was getting ready to make a deal with the sales manager, my wife asked me if I really liked that car. After my "sure do", she simply said, "that is the ugliest car I've ever seen". Months later, most females that saw the GT-R didn't know what it was. The guys, all of them knew what it was. That's when I was told at a car show the GT-R was a "sausage magnet".
A 1977 gmc sierra classic. That year was the only year that the chrome moulding was mustard color. My dad bought it new and wrecked it with only 30k miles on it. He and i swapped the cab from another truck and redid everything. He let me pick the paint color and gave it to me for my senior year in high school. Boy was i proud. It threw a rod bearing at about 130k. That was quite good for those gm 350s of the day. I worked out of town and stored it at a friends ranch. A guy kept pestering me to sell it and i finally did when i got married in 1991 for 2500 dollars. It still looked fantastic after sitting for 5 years covered in a barn. After the guy got it running again he showed me and said he was offered 8000 dollars for it. It was also the last year with no cat convertors and a rochester giant 4 barrel carb. Intrrior was flawless too. Hell. My dad only paid 6400 for it brand new out the door. It was the best project my dad and i ever did together
I never owned a Saab. A woman that worked for me had one years back and her mechanic said every owner has a "Saab" story. Did they have a bad rep for awhile?
