Default What's with my build dates?

On the original View Order for my F-Type the "current planned build date" was July 2015 and the "planned dealer delivery date," Aug 2015 (no date for either, just the month). Then the build date, according to the dealer, became July 21 and the delivery date Aug 21; then July 10, delivery Aug 21. Now the build date is July 3 (!), with the delivery date still Aug 21.

What's going on here? (a) Dealer BS? (Scary thought, and it would be self-defeating, seems to me). (b) Jag needs a cash injection and is therefore putting sold cars at the front of the line? (c) They usually give themselves some leeway with initial later dates? (d)-(g)...

Or you could just ask your dealer for a recent build sheet of your car. They could just be pulling dates out of their ***

+1, ask for a copy of your build sheet.

The first set of dates was unrealistic (4 week delivery) and flat out wrong (week ending Friday dates always used: July 21 is a Tuesday). The second set of dates is likely delivery time (6 weeks) to Ohio. The third set with 7 weeks, is possible if the build date was moved up, but the the sailing schedules don't line up to take advantage of the earlier build date. These schedules are revised constantly. My build date changed just 2 weeks out and the delivery has changed by a week since the car was built.

Frenchy - I think we had this discussion on another thread. Here's what happened with my order. One week after I signed the deal and the order was accepted by JLR, the dealer furnished me with a build sheet; the exact dates are there, but are estimates of course. My order was created (sold order date) on May 22. It shows the pertinent dates in succession: Current planned build date week ending July 10, Factory complete date, July 20, Planned dealer delivery date, Sept 11, Accepted handover (delivery) Sept 16. I have not yet requested an update, but I will after July 10, to see what has happened.

Yes, I think your dealer was guessing. He should be able to give you the build sheet; you should ask for it.

Yeah, I'll ask for the build sheet, but after the claimed build date of next Friday so that I can get the VIN at the same time.

Question: Is the "build sheet" the same as, or different from, the "View Form" of which the dealer gave me an early version a few weeks ago? If not, can someone post a build sheet?

Thanks.

There is, I think, in that endless thread a Configured Vehicle Specification or 2. These can be generated w/ or w/o an order. I got mine before my car was ordered.

I'm wondering about the "build sheet" that gets updated as the process progresses. Same as View Order?

Here's what you are looking for. This is an early version of mine before final configuration. You specifically want to look for page 4:

Yep, that's it. Frenchy, do you have one of these?

Congratulations. I ordered my P450 Convertible and paid the deposit about 4 weeks ago (Australia). I was told it will take at least 6-8 months for me to be assigned a build slot, so delivery is only expected in 10-12 months time :-(
