Default Where do you store the Wind Deflector?

Probably an odd question, but I have discovered it's best to remove the Deflector when the top is up . The Boot would be an obvious answer but I'm afraid it could get damaged by the Groceries.

I was thinking of buying one of those stretchy storage nets that attaches with Velcro and stick it to the underside of the Boot lid.

What do you fellow Convertible Owners do?

I leave my deflector in place all the time. Haven't seen a need to remove it as it's designed to fit fine while the top is up.

I generally leave it in the house if the weather is bad, then leave it fixed if its good or threatening to be good long enough to have top up and down! In the UK we only get 2 days of sun though!

My XKR had a tonneau cover that I never used, because the idea of stopping and spending time to install/uninstall something every time I put the top down/up defeated the spontaneity. I have only been able to drive with the top down twice since I got the F-Type, but have no intention to remove the deflector, ever.
Reminds me of my father's MG - small project to raise/lower top and deal with tonneau cover.

YMMV

All good points Guys, thanks!!

Actually, the only reason I take it out is because this is my Wife's Daily runner and she drives home in the dark and it tends to obscure the rear vision at night somewhat.

After reading your replies I think I will try leaving it in place.

I also leave mine in 24/7. Only took it once when I had the windows tinted. When I called the service guys at the Portland dealership for advice to remove they warned me tone cautious saying it's relatively easy yo damage...all the more reason to leave it in IMO.

If you remove it when the top is up why not throw it in the cavity where the top usually stores in?

I've found it slots relatively conveniently at the side of the passenger seat, at floor level between the side of the seat and door frame. It protrudes slightly into footwell but just where the door lip is.

During these winter months where we don't have the top down much it sits there out the way, leaving easy access to use the hood bay as extra storage (eg for all our kit on the trip round the relatives over Christmas). Plus it's easily accessible if you get a clear day for a drive with top down.

I don't have one and don't feel the need. I've had them on other convertibles, but I don't experience the typical convertible turbulence from the rear--at least the way I sit down low in this car.

I would be tempted to store it in the area behind the deflector that is carpeted. This is pretty flat and where the hood folds into.

Must admit, like most, it pretty much stays up as it does a wonderful job of stopping pretty mark any turbulence. I remove it to clean the rear screen only, or to remove flies that have stuck to the mesh!

Do remember to push down firmly on the corner you wish to release before you 'flick' the catch forward. Many have been broken by forcing the catch without first pushing down on the spring loaded part of the rail.

Mine came with a durable bag with a Velcro closure. I just slide it in the bag and store it in the boot when the top is up. As others have said, push down in the corner before flipping the catch forward. It is spring loaded so the clip won't disengage unless you depress it. I wonder if the screen got damaged could you just replace the screen. There seems to be some screws to undo at each end perhaps to stretch a replacement screen.

I just replaced mine with clear tempered glass. Tried the plexiglass replacement from eBay, but it wiggled a lot and made creaking noises at speed (not dangerous, just distracting). Plan to leave in place always

I take mine out and throw it down in the passenger foot well as I rarely have anyone else in the car. I find it very easy to remove and reinstall if I am at a stop light. It is like a night and day difference with it removed; so much rear visibility. Once you take it out one time and look back, you'll always want it taken out when driving with the top up.

tdienes, if you ordered the car without a deflector, then you would also likely need the mounting brackets that attach to the roll-over hoops. Guessing those aren't installed if you don't get a deflector.

Mesh deflector works OK (particularly with windows up), but it does reduce rear visibility (in rear-view mirror) some. Hard to tell if it's a police cruiser in the distance behind you...
