Default Who has ordered the 6 speed?

Who, so far, has ordered the MT and do you have a build date yet?

I have not yet been able to get one.

I talked to two dealers in my area and they both said that 2016 F-Type pricing will be released in February. Jaguar in Carlsbad is accepting orders with a $5k deposit and will generate a factory order number. Full refundable deposit as well.

My deposit has been paid, but my dealer of choice claims to be unable to generate a factory number yet despite me being their first customer for an MT.

FWIW I think all California deposits are refundable by law. Just gets you a spot in line first.

The sales-guy did mention that they don't know when production will start on the 2016 MT F-Type. I specifically asked about when the order number will be generated and he said it will be as soon as he enters it into the system.

What documentation did you receive on your order and deposit?

My dealer claims the same thing, but also states that the system won't let him enter it yet. If someone is able to confirm that they have a "common order number" for an MT, I may have an issue with my dealer.

I have an invoice from the dealer specifying MSRP less the negotiated discount and showing the deposit as a credit against that amount. The balance due is to be calculated upon release of the 2016 pricing.

Asking again 2 weeks later: Has anyone received a "common order number" yet for a 6 speed?

I work at Galpin Jaguar in LA. Here's what our confidential product brief says about timing for new variants in 2016MY

"Key timing for the F‐TYPE program:

1st Dealer Order call:

RWD: December 2014
AWD: November 2014
Manual: TBD

Job #1:

RWD: January 2015
AWD: February 2015
Manual: April 2015

(All dates subject to change; look for upcoming announcements)"
I don't even have a drop-down in our ordering system to select "manual transmission". To the best of my knowledge, any dealer taking deposits/orders for manual cars is just holding a place in line for when 1st order call opens.

As far as I know, we have not been told when to expect the order bank to open on manual transmission cars, but you can expect me to update y'all when I hear anything!

Thank you so much for this info. I now feel more confident in what my dealer is telling me.

Does "Job #1" refer to first date of production?

Hopefully the overturned ship doesn't screw up these offline dates. This matches the Feb 5th production date i was given by my dealer for the first week of AWD builds.

Waiting for the order book to open. Ready to go on a British Racing Green F Type as soon as they are available.

Orkney, welcome to the forum!! My dealer is saying the order book should open at the end of this month. Are you getting the base or S model? What interior are you getting? Mine will be camel/camel.

Thanks much! Getting the S coupe model, sirrius gray interior. I am very excited, as I have been on the lookout for something to replace my current 22 year old Acura Legend coupe (MT) for at least 10 years. With few good manual cars to choose from, I have been sustaining the Legend past 300,000 miles. Like a good Honda she keeps trying, but old age is ravaging the poor thing now.

The F type should do nicely. My dear father had an E Type when I was a tiny boy. It will likely drain my savings, but as I told my wife, I surrender all control over any future car purchases for free reign on this thing.

Our '89 Legend Coupe (MT) finally died 2 years ago after 265,000 miles ( only belts and hoses needed replacing, but that was twice the value of the car). And, yes, same negotiating dynamic going on with the spousal unit on this end as well.

What year is your Legend? I learned how to drive manual on a 1995 Coupe 6 Speed with Type II engine. What a gem.
