Well, if your aim is that, you'd have to buy a LR3 or LR4 and hope to die driving it,
as these are widely renowned to induce a 'perma grin' ...

 

My FJ-40 has the same effect.

 

As long as you don't drive too fast, otherwise it would not be ... but.. after a while...

 

 

So the FJ is just a mule.. .. with not so good suspension for on road use..

 

OK for road use, just not suited for high speed canyon carving.

I've beat an M5 off the line with it.

 

That's one nice 'cruiser.....I keep threatening to build one. Aqualu Industries is my neighbor right behind my shop and I have to look at those cool aluminum bodies every time I'm in my parking lot!

I'd wager that the FJ does better on pavement than the F type does in the bush! ;-)

I surely hope so, otherwise you wasted a lot of money...

But I think my D3 is far better on pavement then the FJ and [ with proper offroad tyres, which I never got ] , would be comparable or better in the bush..
Maybe some australian forum member can comment on that..

I know Toyota's are disered as they can be fixed with a bent screwdriver [ so to speak ], but from the D3 forum I know in South Africa they're keen on Landrovers,
as they offer unprecedented comfort offroad..

Yeah, I'm in constant battle with body rot on that beast. I have been pondering one of those aluminum bodies.

 

My list is also modest compared to some of the others. It all boils down to balancing resources and priorities, which are different for everyone. I think the common thread among auto enthusiasts is pride of ownership; walk around any Cars & Coffee (or similar meet), engage and discuss with owners of all types of vehicles, and it becomes apparent that the owner of the old, customized Civic is as proud of his personal ride as the owner of the new Lambo.

Wow, nice classics you had ! To find the same cars through history I have to join the lists of cars of at least 3 different [ long deceased..] family members, two generations older..

But the huge gap means you drove lease boxes for about 15years ? Or you lived in a city with no garage and high parking rates, so you commuted by public transport..

I've probably forgotten 3 or 4 and have left out the kids' cars that we purchased over the years. And I am eagerly awaiting my first drive back in the Pantera with double the horsepower, 50% more torque and a new complete leather interior with C-4 leather covered, diamond quilted seats. I heard the engine fired up last week, and it is louder than an Ftype V8 could ever hope to be, simply shocking!

 

 

Actually, your Mini is only 4 years older then my D3, my daily driver..
