I have many small specks on my windshield. Worst was when leading a drive via Palomar Mt and was stuck behind a Super-bike tossing rocks. A couple of my friends with high-end exotics have the windshield protection film. They said it cost $400.00 and works well. I should have had this done when I had Expel installed soon after buying the car.

 

I have the heated windshield and it serves no purpose in AZ but been concerned since I've owned the car about having it crack. I stay off the highways for the most part and still have some small chips from just surface streets. And at least in AZ it has nothing to do with tailgating or better put, it can simply happen without tailgating. My last car was a 911 and I literally just headed on the highway and there were no cars within sight of me and out of nowhere a rock smacks my windshield and cracked it. No idea where it came from as there was nobody around me. AZ is horrible for rocks flying. I had one windshield replaced at my office and on the way home from work a rock flew up and cracked the one that was just literally installed a few hours prior.

 

I had the heated windshield and never used it this winter in Indiana. Had a crack and replaced it with a non-heated version. No errors on the dash for making the switch, but I suspect there is a code in a control unit somewhere. It can be ignored!
