Default Withdrawals

My F has been at the dealer since last Monday getting a new clutch. Hopefully ready tomorrow, but probably Tuesday. But then I have to go on a 4 day trip for work that gets me home xmas eve and obviously they will be closed xmas day. That would be 2 weeks with no F-Type happiness.

It's funny how you can have withdrawals from a car, then slight panic attacks you won't get it back for xmas day!!

The only upside is I've been driving my '13 Golf GTI around which I always forget is a fun little whip too.

Two weeks? I can sympathize. I still don't have a replacement clutch, so may get to feel that pain again. I'd like a replacement clutch, but still haven't quite recovered from my extensive separation from my F-Type.

Two weeks? Try 4 months of winter storage in the northern climes. But I'm not much interested in driving it on cold tires, salted roads, etc.

But, it's one of many reasons to look forward to spring.

I lost the entire summer with mine, but we don't salt the roads and an occasional dusting of snow is a rare novelty. In my younger days I motorcycled all year 'round, so winter duty for the 'F' is no big deal.

Ditto. Mine will be on the storage lift from now until April. .....and no, I have ZERO interest in driving it the winter as I have a couple AWD/4WD vehicles that are much better in winter driving conditions. Once the street sweepers clear the "sand" off the roads, the F type can come out and play.....not before then.

I hear ya, but can't deal with not driving it for the whole winter. It won't be run in snow, salt or slush, but if/when the roads are dry, the F will be out.

Nice. One needs an alternate or winter ride that's not boring. Though not in the GTI's league, I feel about the same when get into my manual Saab 9-3 Aero.

+1

It's the same here, and the good thing is that it is almost like getting a new car every spring 😊

It's been last Friday since I last drove the car, and I'm already in withdrawal.

It's a ritual that gets done every year;

in the fall (usually by Nov. 1st) - put away the sports cars; wash cars, fill up with non ethanol fuel, add fuel stabilizer, hook up battery tenders.

do the same with the motorcycles, boat and camper. install winter tires/rims on the SUV. Service SUV and 4x4 truck.

drain swimming pool and winterize. Blow out all underground irrigation. go up to the Ski Chalet and clean, get hot tub going and stock for the season.

....then in the spring (usually around mid April). Undo all that stuff you did in the fall.

repeat.

I'm not sure what I'd do with all the time if I didn't have to deal with winter..... LOL.

I was there this past weekend and the wind chill was unbearable.

Well my F isn't ready. They didn't even get the clutch till Monday. So it's looking like Wednesday. But I have an early departure that morning so I won't be getting my car. They are open on Xmas eve when I get back but only till 3pm, and guess what time I land!?!?

I must say this tho. Park Place Jaguar in Plano have been very accommodating. They have made arrangements so I can retrieve the car after hours and have him for Christmas Day.........thats an awesome Christmas Present.

I guess my Airbus I fly will have to do for 4 days.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Somewhat different exhaust note. Just don't leave it in ECO mode - wouldn't want the engines to shut down.

Mine is storage since November, few feet of snow outside and a mental image of front end plowing through it make it easier not to miss it.

Here in SoCal, we get to drive the vehicle pretty much year round. I feel sorry for you guys in the winter snow.

I am going to our local mountains for NYE and because of heavy snow, I have to leave her behind.

I'm not looking forward to driving a Honda with snowchains.

Did a bunch of drifting & donuts in the snow in our work parking lot this morning, no way I could put this thing away for the winter, way too much fun to drive.

Finally got mine back on Xmas eve with his new clutch. What a difference the new clutch makes. It's a different car. If you drive an early model 6sp I'd urge you to take it to your dealer and get them to replace the clutch.

+1. Now you'll get spinning rear wheels rather than slipping clutch on takeoff.
