Sorry, I am new here, it's an odd post.

So my hood release mechanism won't latch. As in the hood won't close completely. The mechanism in the photo won't lock. As I was messing with it, they did lock once. So I pulled the interior hood lever and it unlocked however now it won't lock back up.

Spokanejag, you are fortunate in that it is not locking the hood closed. Before you hit that point, you will want to head to the local wrecking yard and finding a replacement. There is a cable underneath that you will need to get free from the latch. Should not be a difficult job to get done. The latch comes out with the removal of the 2 bolts you see.
