Hi folks. Can anyone tell me where on the engine I can find the engine number?

Thanks, David.

Yes, but you cannot read it anyway.

Call a Jaguar dealer and ask they look up the engine serial number based on your VIN. Ask nicely.

Sorry, can you explain why I cannot read it. I am worried that the seller of the car has filed the engine number off, as in a recent inspection I was told the engine had possibly been changed. I want to check the number against the registration details. Thanks, David.

Been down to the dealer who showed me where the number is at the back of the engine next to the bulkhead above the gearbox housing. Need to remove front scuttle to get to it. Would have thought it would have been visible!

Thanks for your help anyway. Regards, David.

Hi David,
You might find this useful to you. There are three files over in the XK8 FAQ that give details of all part # and descriptions.

Follow this link into the FAQ and scroll to the section XK8 parts files.

The one you want is parts file one, but the other two might be of interest.
