Default Connector to the throttle body Jaguar X Type 3.0

Hi there

Can someone possibly help me with advice?

The connector that plugs into the throttle body has perished and needs to be replaced. At the moment and as a temporary fix, I am holding it in place with a cable tie, but wish to fix the problem properly.

Apart from sourcing an engine wiring loom / harness, is there anything else that I can do? The harness seems to be a rather costly avenue. For instance, is this connector specific to the throttle body or is there an alternative that I can use?

I appreciate the help!

Peet

Peet,

Now you've confirmed the connector, I've put the diagram here to see if members recognise it and know an alternative solution.

Hi Graham

Just a question and maybe you can tell me if my idea is doable. Every auto electrician I take my car to says that the only way to fix the problem is to buy a wiring harness to obtain that little plug. This is quite costly.

Do you think an alternative repair can be to cut the wires, remove the throttle body and solder new wires onto the connectors on the TB? Those wires can then be connected with a plug to the wires from the harness. (I will not attempt this myself, but will suggest to the auto electrician).

If this route can work, I am confident that the auto electrician can fix my problem.

Again, thank you so much for your help.

I'm sure a breaker (scrapyard) could supply the item cut off the harness with enough wire to solder it.

Peet,

Have you seen the answer from Dell Gailey in your Intro thread?
