Courtesy lamp and small disk in driver’s footwell

Courtesy lamp and small disk in driver’s footwell
Does anyone know what this small disk is? Also, where is the courtesy lamp supposed to be mounted? It is right in the center top on the passenger side, but there is no place to mount it similarly on the driver’s side. This is a 1997 XK8 convertible. Thanks.
