Tutorial: Adjust your convertible top cover/clamshell
This is so simple, it probably doesn't need a tutorial. But I will post this anyway.
I had noticed when washing the car, that the right side of my convertible top cover did not sit flat on the passenger's side like it does on the driver's side. This annoyed me to no end and I never got around to do anything about it... until today.
Here is the driver's side (GOOD):
'
and the passenger's side (NOT so good):
So what to do about it? As it turns out, when the roof is fully open or fully closed, the clamshell is locked into place with a catch and a latching mechanism--one on each side. The catch can be adjusted on the underside of the clamshell. The catch has a little slot that it rests in which allows for some adjustment.
This is the one from the driver's side (good):
There are two nuts on there (one is a locknut). Break both of them loose, and adjust as needed. Just make sure to lock one against the other so that they don't move over time. I suspect this is what happened with my XKR.
The final result is a nice flush clamshell on both sides of the convertible top!
Magic!

Alan, I think it is a very helpful post, not everyone is mechanically inclined and could save them a few bucks. Pictures are worth a thousand words, or so they say.
I noticed a little wind noise coming from the rear passenger side with the top up and yep, the same on mine. I adjusted the passenger side and it helped but still not completely flush like the drivers side. Adjusted it a little at a time but didn't go all the way to the top of the adjustment. I'll try that first but I may raise the drivers side a little to see if that helps even it out. Maybe the drivers side is bottoming out before the passenger side so you may have to raise one to lower the other.
There are adjustable rubber bumpers on the outsides that support the outer lip that may need adjustment so don't forget about those.
