Default Crown Wheel Help...

Can anybody point me in the right direction, as I am seeking a price and availability of a replacement crown wheel in a Jag diff center I have inherited.
The crown wheel looks like it has been to the dentist and lost a few teeth.
I am not even sure what year or model this center comes from!!!

Attached is a pic of the numbers found stamped on it.
Any information or help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Russ.

OOPS.

49 X 13 = 3.77:1.

I am not aware of a Jag with that ratio, but I may be very wrong.

3.54
3.32
3.07
2.88

There are common ones, but way back in 60's dunno.

Is it an open unit or LSD?

It is an LSD center and comment so far is it is out of a later model Jaguar with a small engine for the European market...

OK,

For the 3.2 ltr engine,

XJ40 Manual Transmission used 3.77, and LSD was an option.

XJ40 Auto transmission used 4.09, LSD was an option.

Possibly carried over to the X300 model, but I dont have that to confirm, but the X300 was an XJ40 upgraded.

Thanks Grant for filling in the gaps.
I have something to work with now.
How about a source for a replacement crown wheel and pinion, prefer used I think due to budget.

JagDaim in Melbourne, ask for Brian.

Prestige Spares in Melbourne, ask for Lucky Phil.

Triumph/Rover Spares in Lonsdale Adelaide, wreck a LOT of Jags.

MAYBE even Roadbend in Perth, dunno about their s/hand stuff.

Thanks Grant, I have a plan since I now know what vehicles have this gear ratio.
I think I could find a complete used rear end a reasonable price locally over time and use the gears or the whole centre section.
I will have a quick chat with Road bend motors and try my luck as well.

Many thanks,

Russ.

Good luck.

Very few Manual trans XJ40/X300 ever graced our shores, probably count both models on one hand.

But, you dont know till you ask.
