Default A fast technicial question...

I have been shopping for an extended warranty for my 2008 XK and have discovered a few of the providers specifically exclude the following emmission components from otherwise very complete "bumper to bumper" plans:

"...purge valve, solenoids, sensors, vacuum canister, vapor return canister, vapor return lines/valves, air pump/lines/valves, emission vapor sensors."

I was wondering why these are excluded. Is it because thay are expensive to replace, or fail frequently, or both???

Anyway, just wondering...

Yes, I agree it seems puzzling, as there are very few posts on issues with these parts. I suspect they are expensive to replace, though.

Most of the emissions equipment items are covered by the manufacturer warranties for 100,000 miles.

Good luck looking for an ESP company. Other than the factory ESP, I think there's just about one good company on the market that would be acceptable. I forget their name, but their management purchased the company a couple of years ago.

Believe it or not, but independent ESP companies must pay for outside insurance--who would pay off in case the ESP company went out of business. There are a bunch of shysters in this very lucrative business.

I would suggest you carefully investigate the market closely on the internet for customers' ratings.

I personally prefer the manufacturers' ESP, as they have vested interest in a satisfied owner.
