I have a round hole in my boot/trunk?
Hi, My boot/trunk has a 2" / 50mm ish round (purposely cut) hole that is open to the outside world. As I look into the boot/trunk and lift out the floor to expose the spare wheel, looking down to the rear of the car, the hole is towards the right on the rear vertical face of the wheel storage area, just outside the battery cover...I hope this makes sense.....What's the hole for? Should it be open (battery breather?) or should it have a bung in it? Comments and suggestions welcome.
I just bought an XJ8 Sovereign last week so I spent all day cleaning and polishing.......that's how I found the hole.. Thanks, Allan

Allan,
You are NEW, so WELCOME.
When you get time, do your thing in the new member area, it keeps the Moderators all warm and fuzzy.
The hole is possible from the "pressing" of the various body panels in the infancy of production.
They are generally all over some cars.
It should have a bung in it for sure.
I would not worry with Jaguar items here, simply measure it correctly and slip into a rubber supply organisation and obtain a bung.

Thanks Grant, much appreciate - my signature should appear now. Thanks again. Allan
Maninahat98, the hole that you are describing should be there. It serves 2 purposes. Like you comment on, it is a vent hole for the battery. But, it is also there to drain out any fluid that may get into the trunk area (failure of your trunk seal for example). It is how the car was built and unless you are seeing where water is coming in the hole, I would not worry about it.
