Default Jaguar F-Type SVR or F-Pace SVR

I'm conflicted at the moment which to get, a 2017 Jaguar F-type SVR or a 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR?

Both are going for around the same price currently.

2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR
V8 Supercharged Engine
575 HP
2 door
2 seater
3750 lbs
Small cargo area
Main unique features: exhaust note (crackles and pops), styling and less of them on the road.

2019 Jagur F-Pace SVR
V8 Supercharged Engine
550 HP
4 door
5 seater
4300 lbs
Large cargo area
Main unique features: more practical for daily use, styling and upgraded tech.

Gooday Sami.

One of the guys on the F Type forum has both and has posted about it. I think he said that the F Pace sound is better than the F Type.

I suppose add to the question that the F Type is about to get a facelift so the 2017 SVR is going to be a superseded model soon. That said I dont know that many people would realise or care. The F Type handles a lot better than the F Pace. Ultimately you cant beat gravity no matter how hard you try, the F Pace is excellent for a SUV but even back to back against the XE when they were released, the reviewers were saying that the XE handles better.

On the tech, I have the tech from the 2017 F Type (mine is a mid year update with the new tech) and my wife has the XE 2020 with the latest tech. Really the only thing I would want from the latest tech is android auto and even then I cant be bothered because it wont work without a cable which is a bit stone age IMO. Other than that (and I should mention that the surround sound is very good in the XE), the better version of the incontrol system still holds its own, I drive my wife's car and the tech is fine, I get back into mine and I still like the tech.

So then it possibly comes down to whether you need the space. I use mine as a daily but my kids are all driving now and we have my wife's car if I need more room. If I didnt have access to my wife's car, having the F Type only would be a nuisance maybe 5 times a year - buying a microwave or something in a box you cant fit in the back. If you do have a second car with some space, then the F Type is fine as a daily.

I would mention that the F Type gets a lot of attention, if that is a plus or minus for you.

That seems a most unusual shortlist. Either you need four doors and carrying capacity or you are in a position to indulge yourself with a two seater.

It's short for a reason. I'm looking for a new faily driver. Either I get a fun two seater and say screw the cargo room and ability to haul passengers or I get something that will be full proof for just about anything because it has way more cargo room and has the room for passengers but isn't as sexy as the F Type. Also, if the F Pace had crackles and pop, I think that would seal the deal for me to pick the F Pace over the F Type right now.

However, in a perfect world, I'd own both. 🙂

I did read that thread, it didn't really answer my question though. Some favor the F Pace SVR and say the exhaust note is just right but the one thing I absolutely love is the crackles and pops of the F Type SVR but it's not as practical of a daily driver as the F Pace SVR is or as future proof.

I think this is asking which is better: apples or oranges.

And rightfully so, the question remains, which is better? 😉

Well... hopefully not.

F-type has a lot more presence than F-pace to the general public. Consequently, you will get a lot more attention when driving it. F-type is also a lot more capable machine - it is a sport car and handles like one. You won't be out of element on a race track or drag strip with yours.

F-pace has more comfort and room. If you have kids, cottage, boat or a ranch you will find it more versatile. It will also stand out less in Texas, where everyone drives F-150 trucks. No, F-pace does not make pops, but you can contact a reputable tuner (e.g. VAP) and they will sell you tune and exhaust to make it sound just like F-type.

So, the F Type SVR is the "apple" and the F Pace SVR is the "orange"? Haha
