I have replaced the drivers side seat with a used one from Ebay because my old drivers seat module got defective causing no electrics to work.
I am trying to re-programme this used seat with the JLR SDD software.
I have run the ' Configure new module - Drivers seat module" (image attached) but I'm getting this error "Vehicle Identification Number not learnt" (image attached)
Does anyone know why I am getting this error and how to fix?
The software is recognising the VIN of the car as I used the 'Auto Vin' route and gets me to the Servicing section/Diagnostics stage.
Thanks
The correct proceedure for replacing modules is start SDD with original module in place.
Replace module.
Reprogram.
Since the replacement module was previously programmed, it will have the boot loader previously installed.
Try starting as described and use "program existing module".
Let us know your results.
Which version of SDD? >>Bottom of browser says - v.346
What Vehicle/year? >> Jaguar X150 - 2006 year
Try the "program Existing Module" function. >> Unfortunately I can't see these functions in the 'Service functions' , I'm a total newbie so maybe I need to dig further?

<<< Strange. Maybe 146?

<<< Two options to see program existing: 1. enter through diagnostics. Input your problem and reporgram existing will likely be revealed.
2. enter via Runtime\softwaredownload.html. That is do not open sdd. Use windows explorer to: JLR\IDS\Runtime\softwaredownload.html. click on the line item to open.
Enter requested information, select existing modules, follow instructions. If the software fails to resolve (is not found), abort. Start over.

<<< Generally, SDD should start with the original module in place. That is the documented proceedure. However, return the module, not the whole seat.
If the module does not communicate, SDD will resolve using hardware and software part numbers.
