Default Looking for SDD 138 or newer.

I have my brothers 2014 F Type in the shop for repair and I usually just use IDS 118.5 for the cars I work on.(good to 2009)
I have SDD 125,126,127,128,129,130,131,132.
Rumor has it that SDD 137 or 138 is the earliest version I can use to communicate with the 2014.
I have two Rotunda VCM units so I can keep one IDS 118.5 and use the other for the SDD software on another laptop.

I really don't like SDD (I really don't know much about it) as I used WDS/IDS from 1998 to 2006 when I worked at the dealer.
I have loaded SDD131 onto a laptop but always defaulted to Legacy IDS for the 1995 to 2006 cars I worked on.
Finally sold the DrewTech Mongoose Pro to a forum member when I got my Rotunda VCMs.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

easiest way for you to get it to motorcarman is to upload it to drop box or media fire account and give him access as it's 4GB like you mention. I use drop box free account myself.

My DROPBOX account is limited to 2gb.
A Google MyDrive is good to 15gb but mine is almost full of WDS43, IDS118.5 and SDD125.

Default Jlr sdd 138.02

Goodmorning everyone,
My name is Giuseppe and I am Italian, I am new in this forum and like all of you I have a Jaguar model xf 2.2 diesel engine year 2013.
I installed on a laptop SDD 138.02 that I bought from a well-known online site with relative mongoose pro (obviously not original),
I wanted to know if for this version of sdd in addition to the files that are on the DVD there are other updates that can be installed, and if there are, how can I find them and what are they?
thank you all in advance for the information and sorry if for some reason there are errors in the writing.

You might try before you upgrade?
I have a 2014 and used V157 but left it connected to the internet. I have gotten ton's of updates and am now at V163 but nothing is different for my car.
SDD is self updating if you allow it by connecting to the internet.

Does your V138 read the VIN and all the modules in your car?

Yes! I think so,
but i can't connect to the internet because my sdd is a cracked version, by mistake it happened to me once and ended up in limited mode because a crack version was detected.

How can I be sure my sdd 138 detects all modules ?,
how can i know which modules my car has to match what sdd reads?

Enlighten me !!

It's a bit of code reading for sure!
You have to decipher what the abbreviations are and what functions they provide. But it's not too hard. I mainly do internet searches to find the answers.

Here is my car. See the yellow battery indicator. This was early on (The version is 157.00 v.327. and Date is 24 Oct 2019) before I was convinced of the need for a power supply and was running my normal battery charger. Hey it said it was rated for 50A!
Note the red symbol (What ever it is?) in the upper right hand corner that tells me I am not connected to the internet.

Some are pretty easy to figure out but mainly you want either green check marks or red question marks. Any red X marks are a sign of trouble and miscommunication of some kind.
I really don't fully understand all of them yet because mine has a red question mark on the REM which I thought was the Rear Electronics Module that every car had to have to operate?

I think it's OK because the definitions state the red question mark in a square box are optional modules not fitted to the car.
The real important thing is no red X in a round box.

Yes depending on the software either no internet and no updates or like how mine is cracked and it bugs you to do updates. Mine if not connected to the internet will work but as time goes on it will start disabling functions until your pretty much forced to connect and start updating. I have been worried became most people have the type you do where it's static and NOT connected to the internet. I have done TONS of updates and no change in how it works on my car but I can see how a dealer would need to update continually because of new models and updates.

But I think SDD should stop updating soon because it's been replaced by Pathfinder on the newest Jaguar's.

Hi clubairth1,
so are you telling me that if i want to install the sdd157.00 v.327 version i have to interrupt the date to 24 october 2019?
And of this version there is the cracked one? virus-free.
However as soon as I can I show you a photo of my sdd 138.02 v.174
connected to the machine and see if there are red X.

No sorry I was unclear.
I installed V157 and that was just the date I was using the SDD. Not related at all and no you don't need to change the date for that version.
But some other versions do require you to set the date to get it to work. Mine does not.
Did the instructions you got with the software say anything about setting the date on the computer?

Well so far mine is virus free but with all the previous problems I had with SDD I don't run anything BUT SDD on that old Win7 laptop. It was just a spare machine I had sitting around as I had upgraded my shop laptop.

Yes please take some screen shots so I can see what's going on. I really think V138 will work fine for your car.
I have not asked but did you install the Drew Tech Mongoose Pro drivers? You can see if you have on the SDD screen.
If not I have the 32bit and 64bit versions.

SDD does not know or care if your cable is real or not the drivers handle all that. That part of the screen will change if you are using something else like the VCM. See attached for a summary of approved Interfaces. Note the shocking high prices for all of those devices! Also note that even the Drew Tech. Mongoose can't program some ECU's. But that's very advanced stuff and I have never had to do that.

Your cable (If it's a Mongoose/Mangoose) will have status lights that should blink and also indicate communication with the car.
I had trouble seeing these lights as they show thru a clear plastic cable protector. So I removed the cover for a better view.

Apologize as that photo a bit blurry!

Yes! on the dvd it was written that every time I used sdd I had to stop the date in July 2013. Yes! I have installed all the mongoose drivers and I can see the status of the LEDs changing from red to green. I also think jl 138 works well with my car, I just had the doubt that a newer version was better and more updated. I would still like to try the 157 as yours but I just don't know where to download it from, those seen so far are either incomplete or have viruses. (if you have an idea and well accepted). As soon as I have time I take some photos and show you the screenshots.

OK good you are doing it correctly by following those directions.

Yes if your interested I have a number of different versions and can give you V157 with the patch and some instructions I got from another member who got me up and running after a few failed attempts by myself!
But the folder is almost 5GB. Let me work on it a bit. I think I can find somewhere to temporarily put them for you to download.

As always be aware I am just some guy on the internet and you don't really know what your getting!!
So use at your own risk but it is exactly what I have used for the last 2 years with success on several different models and years of Jaguar's.

Got it!
Try this to download. It's only temporary and will last 30 days.

ok, Download completed, but in the files I did not find the Deep Freeze and I honestly didn't understand what Deep Freeze is for. as soon as I have time I will format a laptop that I no longer use and install win 7 32 bit to accommodate SDD 157. Now: a few questions, 1 is there a need to change the date or not? 2 can you provide me with the deep freeze and the explanation of how to install it and any passwords? ok, having said that if you have other indications to give me please do not leave anything out. I think in the weekend I will start the installation work of 157 obviously with relative report and photos.

Yea that's where I got into some problems. That text file is a compilation of my comments and instructions from the forum member who helped me get started. It's a bit of a mess!

Deep Freeze is a program that makes the computer boot back to any date you want every time. Kind of like a restore point on every boot up. I was told I needed that but it's a paid program and once I got it installed I could not get rid of it. It did not seem to be working right for me so I tried to uninstall it with no luck. Had to wipe the computer and reload windows. Which was another reason I ended up just using SDD on that laptop. So I did not use Deep Freeze. No need to change the date and I think the reason he used Deep Freeze was to stop the updates? I can upload Deep Freeze if you want it?

I did not mention it because I did not go that way but several people run SDD in a virtual machine using VM Ware Player which is free. I did not have any luck attempting it that way. I do have a version of VM player to if you want it.

I also had some confusion about the install but when he told me to just use the FULL.exe file it went fine. Earlier I had about 5 or 6 different files to use during the installation but in the end just using the FULL one got me up and running. The update process took care of the rest. Note I use it on a Win7 64 bit machine. Not sure there would be any difference except maybe which version of the Mongoose Pro divers you use. I installed both 32 and 64 bit Mongoose drivers.
