Yea that's where I got into some problems. That text file is a compilation of my comments and instructions from the forum member who helped me get started. It's a bit of a mess!
Deep Freeze is a program that makes the computer boot back to any date you want every time. Kind of like a restore point on every boot up. I was told I needed that but it's a paid program and once I got it installed I could not get rid of it. It did not seem to be working right for me so I tried to uninstall it with no luck. Had to wipe the computer and reload windows. Which was another reason I ended up just using SDD on that laptop. So I did not use Deep Freeze. No need to change the date and I think the reason he used Deep Freeze was to stop the updates? I can upload Deep Freeze if you want it?
I did not mention it because I did not go that way but several people run SDD in a virtual machine using VM Ware Player which is free. I did not have any luck attempting it that way. I do have a version of VM player to if you want it.
I also had some confusion about the install but when he told me to just use the FULL.exe file it went fine. Earlier I had about 5 or 6 different files to use during the installation but in the end just using the FULL one got me up and running. The update process took care of the rest. Note I use it on a Win7 64 bit machine. Not sure there would be any difference except maybe which version of the Mongoose Pro divers you use. I installed both 32 and 64 bit Mongoose drivers.

no, at this point I don't need deep freeze. however my laptop does not support 64 bit but only 32 so i will install sdd on 32 and i hope it goes well anyway. I will do exactly what is written in the text file. So if I understand correctly once installed sdd 157 do I still have to connect the car with the internet disconnected?
I have seen in other sections of this forum where we talk about the updates of the 157 and it provides
157.01 / 02/03/04/05/06 exe, I wanted to know if I also need them with the version you made me download which I think is 157.327.
If I need you can make me have them.
Yes I went down that road for a while too. Installing .01 thru .06 files still could not get it to work. But just install SDD_157_FULL you can also install SDD_157_156_UPDATE but I don't think it matters if you do or not. The V157.327 you saw was from SDD updating so your install version will change with time and updates. As I posted above mine now is currently V163.xxx something. That's how many updates it's went thru.
Yes I think 32 bit will work fine. Like you I used what I had and it just happened to be 64 bit Win7. Yes be connected to the internet while you install SDD.
You can completely install SDD without connecting to the car and I recommend you do that way. SDD is flaky in my opinion and very slow. I log in and out several times to force it to check for updates. In the beginning it always had something it wanted to download and it takes a while to download everything. Also don't use wireless for downloading updates. You want a solid wired internet connection.
I normally am not connected to the internet when it's connected to the car. Just a bit awkward with all the cables attached but I have done it. It will be downloading updates in the background as you use SDD which slows things down more. Be sure the laptop is plugged in while using it in the car too. Use laptop battery power at your own risk. In the beginning that was my plan as it's a pain dragging the power cords around and I even purchased a larger capacity battery for my laptop but in the end it's just better to leave it plugged in while using SDD. One more potential problem eliminated.

OK! I got it, but as for the installation, should I first install the 157 full or 157_156 update?
installation performed, I think everything is in order. See in the lower left corner the version of sdd, do you think that if I am connected to the internet it will update? and especially when I connect to the machine the internet must be on or off?

Looking good!!
I think you got it. Now get to work!
But get that battery symbol green first.
Pretty cool I have never seen SDD in Italian before.

do not look at the yellow battery because I have yet to purchase the charger. I connected the pc to the internet and magically sdd continues to download updates, it is now at 157.04 v342.

Yes many updates and they take a LONG time. But again you look great!
Hope it's useful for your repairs too!
But you really don't need the updates so your ready to use SDD now.

thank you very much, your information was very helpful. But tell me in your humble opinion what is the best jaguar model ever both as an engine and also as a beauty?
2014 XJR in IRR (Italian Racing Red) with a VAP tune and lower pulley, Upgraded IC and IC pump. Runs 174 mph at the Texas mile.
Really love the 5.0L SC with the TVS blower. A great combination and I get surprising good gas mileage too!
Made a 5000+ mile trip from Texas to Oregon and back. Drove 80+ most of the way plus in town driving and averaged 27.5 mpg. I really did not expect that kind of mileage as I drive the car hard.
Only have about 50K miles on it and have had two repairs. Water pump under warranty and an O2 sensor after warranty.
In action on a portable dyno - made 540HP to the wheels and it was going up with every pull.
I really like the interior too. I have the Carbon Fiber package which replaces all the interior wood with CF plus the hood vents and engine cover are also CF. Two tone London Tan/Warm Charcoal.
I upgraded all the woofers in the doors and rear shelf with the Jaguar Reference Kevlar drivers. I think it made a noticeable difference. I also put sound matting in all 4 doors, rear shelf and trunk at the same time which helps make a quiet car even more silent.
I added a Android 10.2" tablet replacing the factory navigation screen. But still have all the factory screens and functions.
Can run any app available for Android.
I have updated to the later 2016? I think and up LED headlights too. Not a great picture but a great mode for sure!
Just kidding as I like a lot of different stuff young and old. Mostly performance versions such as the R models. MY previous car was an 2005 S Type R.

This is very nice, because i thought americans loved their ford mustangs, muscle cars, pickups etc..etc .. But is it you in the photo?
A very cool car and love that color? That must be a rare car? I have never seen a station wagon version in person before. I guess it's called a sportbrake over there?
Yes I do love all the American hot rods and even pickups but the sheer value of Jaguar has drawn me in! When I look at how much money you can put into a car and still not have it drive anything close to how a Jaguar drives you really have to stop and think. I do have a classic 1959 Thunderbird that was my first car and I have owned it for 47 years!
Sorry picture it was scanned from a film picture.
I really love kit cars but they are so crude that beyond the looks they are not very good drivers. I sold mine a long time ago but it was pretty cool looking.
And I help my friends and neighbors out so I get some exposure to old stuff that way too. Here is a very nice 1957 Chevy pickup street rod. It had a LOT of money put into the build.
Plus I think Jaguar has such a long and terrible reputation in the US that I am getting a whole lot of car for the money. I do my own work and found out (much to my surprise too!) that the repairs are no worse than other cars and parts are available. As I have said many times a new Jaguar is a money losing proposition and a used Jaguar is an out rite bargain (only if you can do the repairs). But be aware that resale is beyond terrible. I only got $3500 out of that silver car and it was pretty much perfect when I sold it.
I drove the silver STR until 132K miles as my daily driver for 6+ years commuting and never had a break down either. Had repairs but I check the car regularly and plan ahead. That silver cars worse problem is a $25 rubber hose under the SC. Hours of labor to change. But I got all the cooling hoses ahead of time and when it started leaking I could still drive the car by topping up the coolant everyday until it got to the weekend when I could dive into it. Most people just don't care and have no interest in their cars as they are just appliances. I understand that.
Yes that's me from about 10 years ago. Still have hair but with a WHOLE lot more grey!!
