hi FJT,

while driving today, i decided to have a bit of fun and as such, a kick-down was on the cards. turned on the 'sports mode' button and floored it! it changed down a gear and went like a rocket! however, at the same time, i got a 'low oil pressure' warning in the display and also the needle for the oil gauge in the centre dials, dropped down. however, this was only momentarily, and it went back to the centre almost immediately. any ideas what could have caused this and should i refrain from having a bit of fun next time?

Did you check the oil level?

 

yes, found the oil level on 'min', so prompty topped it up to the 'max' level. could this have been the cause (low oil)?

 

I'd guess that when you nailed it, due to the low level thew oil was forced away from the pick up for a second or two causing the low reading.

 

I concur. When you change oil make sure you are getting 7.4 quarts.

 

will try another kick-down and report back.
