Give me light! I just bought a 2019 XJL. It has LED headlights. I think they are improperly aimed. How do I adjust them? The photo shows me stopped at a stop sign on a dark country road. My camera lightens the image a little bit. I can hardly see if someone is stepping into the street across the left side of the intersection. When driving I naturally tend to look at the road in an area which is completely black with this car. It's really dangerous!
Unfortunately, the headlights are purposely constructed this way to prevent blinding the oncoming drivers with the brightness of the LED lights. With this being said, I want to say there is a lever in the back of the headlights that will flip that dark area to the right side. This would simply be moving the problem area to the other side.
According to the Carfax history, this car had two "accidents". The wheel hit a curb on the front left side in 2021 and it was described as minor. In 2023 it suffered some kind of minor, unspecified front end damage issue, but Carfax did not offer any clue as to what happened. I think it may have resulted in one or both headlamps being misaligned or the misalignment caused the driver to have these accidents. The car is dangerous to drive at night.
By the way, the 2019 XJL "flips" the handedness of the lights by driver input on the mode switch. There is no manually activated lever evident to me, unless it is hidden.
Yes they are adjusted like most headlights. I also swapped to the LED setup on my 2014 and they were WAY low after install! I used a wall in my gagarge and a lazer level to aim them a bit better. I think they are still too low. Also not a fan of the automatic high beams as it seems to not work very well?
Turn over the head light and look in the corner? Have you opened the hood of your car to look?
Your 2nd picture has the white plastic collar pictured? That's one adjuster. Allen wrench fits inside it.
Note these operate at 90 degrees and have a small plastic gear to change the direction of rotation. It's not uncommon for these small gears to strip out. You can still use the adjusters but instead of going straight down to turn them you must turn the base instead.

Those pics are from eBay. Not my light. The photos I have seem to show a round cap with a small round hole in it. No room for an allen wrench. I suspect the late model cars with LEDs don't have adjusters at all!
I have the late model LED's in my 2014 and I do have the adjusters like shown in the manual?
I have not seen the setup you show but does the cap come off? Otherwise how can the light be adjusted?
