So, I broke my Craftsman shop light (fluorescent tube style) and now looking for a really good, really bright Retractable LED shop light. Any recommendations?

Well, I can see this is very popular thread!

Anyway, if you are looking for a great light, I found one. I got the Bosch FL12. Here is a link for it at Amazon (it does not come with a battery nor charger). This is a fantastic LED shop light. Really bright, even spread, magnetic, and compact. Very rugged.

Bosch Bare Tool FL12 12-volt Max LED Cordless Work Light - - Amazon.com Bosch Bare Tool FL12 12-volt Max LED Cordless Work Light - - Amazon.com

And from Bosch certified pre-owned tools: Bosch FL12 12V Max Cordless Lithium-Ion LED Worklight (Bare Tool)

is the battery separate or is it contained within the body of the lamp

bit naughty of them to sell a lamp without a battery or charger

Yeah, that's what I said. "What? no battery included?" I guess they expect people who already have tools that use the same battery will buy the lamp. You need to have two batteries however. When one starts to go it will blink and you have a few minutes left.

The battery slides into the body.

I really love this lamp. it is super tough, really bright (has two levels of brightness), and the light spread is very smooth. Something other LED lamps seem to fail at.
