reduced performance
i got this code up when i took out the spark plugs & then took the car for a test drive. it threw the code within about 5 miles with the speed control on and travelling at 50mph!!!
any way i took the plugs back out & this time removed the rubbers from the ht pack and also cleaned the spring contacts - the 4 on the nearside ( passenger side) were a bit rusty if that's what you call it also the iron on the coils were rusty , unlike the other 4 which were fine ???.
anyway this didn't cure the problem.
so i took it to my mate's garage & asked if he could plug in his OBD thingy thats id much more expensive than mine(which wouldn't recognise the vehicle anyway) !!
it gave a fault code for WATER SENDER.
unfortunately i cannot remember the code (i no what a dimwit) anyway the first water sensor that i disconnected was the culprit.
it was the 1 at the top of the engine in the front of the supercharger!!
having removed & replaced the plug a couple of times this has cured the problem.
this plug i must have knocked or just decided it had had enough.
so just a cautionary tale for anyone else out there .
why was i doing the plugs in the 1st place well were off to derbyshire this weekend so my other half can drive an Austin Ruby for her birthday so we nearly didn't get to go in the XKR !!
cheers now

Might want to mention what car it was sooner...like in the beginning, or add it to your signature.
Secondly, might want to post this in the right forum. General just doesn't seem like the best place.
